Wedding reception on the beach

Going to one in a couple of weeks. Catholic couple, wedding in the Church, reception half a mile away on the beach. They’ll have tables set up under a tent. However, there will be dancing and a bar on the beach. Any thoughts?
 
It sounds like a good time. Are you anticipating problems with this reception location?

Bring a change of clothes. I’d take off your shoes, too. 😃

I LOVE the beach, but it’s not a place I’d have a wedding reception (at least not right on the beach), unless there was a dock or pier or something.

Not particularly, I’ve just never attended a beach reception. I was wondering what it might be like. Have any of you?

I’ve been there before, and there’s no concrete slab, so I guess I’m wondering how one dances on sand? Maybe mostly slow dances? I know there will be dancing of some kind.

I haven’t been to one, but the first thought that comes to mind is that the guests would need to bring along a change of shoes and probably a change of clothes as well. Attire for a church wedding won’t be too comfortable once you get to the beach.

They are nice if it is calm. if it is windy and or raining they are not much fun at all.

The bride said she’s wearing a formal dress and changing into something more casual. I don’t think it’s as much of a problem for the groom or the groomsmen, as they will be wearing lightweight suits with half-sleeves (covered with jackets for pictures and while inside the Church) and some kind of dressy but comfortable boat shoes.

As for me… I dunno.

Spandex swimming trunks would be nice…
 
If it stretches into the evening, it can get surprisingly chilly at the beach.

I concur with the advice to change clothes for the beach.

Even slow dances will be quite a workout, on the beach.

But it sounds fun.
 
I’ve heard marriage referred to as “taking the plunge,” but I guess in this case they really mean it!
 
If they are having everything else brought down – tables, chairs, food, liquor-- it doesn’t seem that far-fetched to have a rental dance floor brought down. That may happen.

My first thought (unfortunately) is that the seagulls are going to love the buffet.:eek:
