Weekday Mass

How often do you get to go? (do not include your Sunday obligation) What prevents you from going more often? Work? Kids?

I manage to go a couple days of week. My parish is is a 10 minute walk from my home. The Wednsday weekday Mass is at 7 pm and now that we are on daylight time, my wfie and I enjoy the late afternoon stroll to Mass.

We usally have about 20 people present. I also try to work in another day, (usually on Friday)

I look at like this, God is gonna put you wherever you put Him. If you put him #1 He’s gonna put YOU #1, if you put him 2 or 3 guess what?

So I suggest if ya work downtown near the Cathedral etc, skip the big lunch 1 day a week, and go to Weekday Mass. The Sisters at Christ The King often told us those that go to Mass regularly get special blessings.

I can vouch for that, and thats MY :twocents:

We used to have a 7 PM mass in my home parish. I used to love it because it was the same folks who attended and sometimes a group of us would gather after and go down to the beach to walk the boardwalk or go for coffee. But when the parish downsized the number of priests they had to cut that mass. I also liked it because it kept me connected with my home parish since I do not attend mass there on Sundays. But I do have the advantage of being able to attend Mass every day at work, which in the years since the cancellation of my home parish’s evening mass, has brought with it other blessings of worshipping daily with the people I minister to daily.
 
I usually go down to my parish every friday for the 9.30am Mass. I walk down from school as I don’t have any classes then. I would like to go other days but the only other day I have free is a monday and there is no Mass on.
 
I go to daily Mass on Mondays and Fridays. I would go more, but the daily schedule is kinda weird at our parish. There isn’t a Mass on Wednesday, M&F are in the evening, and T&R are in the morning. If all four were at the same time (i.e. all in the morning or all in the evening), then I would be there fo days a week. I guess it just feels a little weird to go to Mass twice between the time I leave work on Monday and the time I show up at work on Tuesday… 🤷
 
We go to a weekday Mass… just once a month. Care of elderly mother and work, makes it impossible otherwise. 😦
 
The school bus comes at the same time our Mass begins. I am blessed to attend the school Mass every Friday morning.

I used to go to weekday Mass but nowadays my legs just wont go the distance (I dont have a vehicle). And now with our dire shortage of priests here in Australia, we have no weekday Masses anyway, only Eucharistic Services. Two of our Mass centres and one Church have closed and we now only have one Church and one Mass centre for a huge parish which was two parishes serviced by four priests…now all our twinned parishes have is one really overworked but wonderful married deacon. Our only part-time priest is a university lecturer and lives a long way from the parish…he is assisted when needed by a quite mature aged retired priest.
And I bet one quite concerned Archbishop.

I was even in trouble over Sunday Mass as for a while I could not get a lift. That has now been amended by a very kind lady in the parish.
Pray for vocations to the priesthood (especially here in Australia) and that we will be a people who cherishes them and treats them like gold. We can certainly see here in Australia that we were taking a lot for granted when our priests were plenty- we just always thought we would have a parish priest with an assistant and would have especially weekday Mass. Their life is not the easiest lifestyle available, let us make it a totally rewarding one wherever possible.

I try to go at least once a week, but between working rotating shifts and helping to care for my elderly parents, some weeks I don’t make it. Other weeks I might go two or three times, though, so it all evens out.
 
I usually try and go twice a week. We have an 8:30 am Mass which works well since I work afternoon/evenings. It doesn’t require me to get up too early (we also have a 6 am one :eek:). Which days I go varies though since I often do some random babysitting in the mornings or go into work early or something like that.

I enjoy it though. It helps keep me centered and I like the quiet peacefulness of it! 👍 I love being able to go on Friday morning after a particularly crazy week and be able to just kneel there in the silence. I just feel recharged and able to make it through that last day! :heaven:
 
I didn’t realize how blessed I am, especially after hearing Barbara’s plight. I pray things get better for ya.

Our weekday Mass schedule are M T T F at 9am. I live in the heart of Protestand Bible Belt, and they have Wed night services that are well attended, so we followed suit with Mass at 7 pm.

When the weather is nice my wife and I enjoy the walk, but soon it will be hot and humid here, and we’ll have to take the air conditoned car.
 
I would love to be able to go to more than just one weekday Mass, however that is not possible with school. I enjoy the peace at the week day Masses, there are about 10 very devout (and friendly) people who attend. There is no noise, no children running about or babies crying,…perfect peace infront of Christ Himself.
 
Work keeps me totally tied to the pc all day. Big lunch? LOL!!! I wish I could even walk away from my pc for lunch to begin with! I usually eat while I’m working, just to get stuff done and to shorten my work day.

In the past, when work was not so insane and I was downtown, I have gone to daily Mass, but that is just not a possibility right now for me.

I would so love it if the little Church near us had an evening Mass, we could walk there in only about 10 minutes. We don’t belong there as parishioners for various reasons, but I would not mind going there for a daily Mass in the evening if I could. The timing is just crummy. 😦

DH gets to go to daily mass almost every single day when they can. He works for Saint Michael’s Media, and they try to do noon Mass every day, or if they can’t they will go to their own little chapel and pray the Divine Mercy together at 3pm. Ahhhhhh - to work for God - I am always so very envious of his job there. :o

It is a blessing for me to be able to attend mass at noon near where I work. Nearly 2 years ago, when I was reluctant to apply for my current job due to the fact that the previous job was much easier for me to handle and that meant I wouldn’t have to worry too much when I got home. But God kept sending people to give me chances to apply for my current job - I applied but asked God to give me time to spend with Him if I ever got the job. Amazingly, I have done great so far with the new job for 2 years and am able to attend daily mass. Praise the Lord.
 
I can’t go often. I don’t have a car, and this town has lousy public transportation. Going to a weekday Mass means getting up at 4:30 in the morning, and it means not getting back until 11. When I have class, I can’t go because of the time conflict. When I don’t have class, I have to choose between the rare opportunity to go to weekday Mass- and the rare opportunity to sleep in. Most of the time, I sleep in. I’m going to try and go to daily Mass this summer at least once a week or so- maybe not at my parish though, since it’s across town.

God bless you and thank you! It has been a real lesson to me to simply take nothing for granted and a reminder that “all things pass, God alone suffices”.

What I never quite realized was that even blessings like Daily Mass could and would pass and that even attending Sunday Mass could be put at risk. Things in Australia here and especially in my Sth. Aust. here could worsen with over 50% of the active priests we do have (which are few) are due to retire soon. I am not too sure of current figures but we did have only seven seminarians in the whole of Australia.
I did read in our local Catholic newspaper that The Archbishop is getting a few priests on loan from India I think it was for three years only.
Our Major and Minor Seminary here which was a beautiful and impressive property and very large was sold years ago as the buildings slowly deteriorated acquiring major cobwebs needing major repair work, and the Seminary simply became a suburban house - that too has now closed and any seminarians we do get go into formation in New South Wales. I can recall the years when the Major and Minor Seminaries here were overflowing with black cassocketed students everywhere. My cousin among them. I did take it for granted it would always be so.
It is a time of concern here, yet we can remain confident that no matter how dire things may be, how major and upsetting the necessary changes because of our shortage, that The Lord will and does care for His Church. And in a sense every single Catholic is The Church. …hence The Lord will provide and amply for every single one of us…no matter, no matter - no matter what may happen.

Until last December, I was able to attend the 5:30 Mass daily. I couldn’t even imagine what I would do with that time if I didn’t go to Mass. Since then, a painful health problem has kept me away from everything except the strictest of obligations - the part-time jobs we’d go bankrupt without, cantoring for Saturday evening Mass, appearing (healthy and happy) at family functions… I went back once or twice and was greeted by my fellow attendees with such love that I could barely contain the tears. We don’t know each other’s names, but we love and care for each other, and miss and worry about those who are absent. It’s a wonderful little community, and I miss them. Please pray that I’ll be able to return soon.

I’m sorry to hear that Betsy, I know you miss going to Mass and those special blessings. I’m sure your friends miss you to.

I’ll keep you in mind at Mass Friday Morning at Prayer petitions after the Gospel.
 
Actually I go daily…but you didn’t provide that option so I chose frequently.

Really, what a nice circumstance, I’m sure your recieve you receive special graces and blessings. More than I thought would are voting frequently,
 
I am very lucky that my parish has Mass every day at 6pm and 12.30 on Monday Wednesday and Friday. It is only a short bus ride away (I mean the ride’s short, not the bus!)
I try and go to the 6pm Mass every day if I can. We also have the Rosary before Mass, and our priest likes to keep the church open all day so it is available for everyone to pop in and say a quick prayer if they want. It is on a main road in a very busy area of London - lawyers, homeless people, retired people, students, professors, office workers of all kinds, shop workers, you name it we have them in our congregation.
