Weekday Propers

Does anybody know where I can find simple English chant versions of the propers for weekdays and (optional) memorials? Something similar to the Simple Choral Gradual or the Simple English Propers would be nice. Oh, and if it’s online in .pdf form, that’d be awesome. 😃
 
According to my local chant guru, during Ordinary Time, the weekday propers are the same as the preceding Sunday.

That means this week, you’d use the propers for the Fifteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time (Link goes to SEP).

During lent, advent, or other times, I’m not sure about finding simple english propers for weekdays. I’d love to see them though.

What you’d need to do (in my mind) is ask Adam Bartlet to release his “formulas” for his simple propers, so you can take the english text for any weekday proper and use his melodic formulas.

I don’t believe they do, which I take is good for you!

Again, I don’t have an official source (you’d have to check a Graduale Romanum) but my source is very knowledgeable and reliable.

Although I guess it would make sense, because the “priest’s propers” (the collect, prayer over the gifts, the prayer after communion) don’t change during OT weekdays either.

It’s in Latin. If you know a few of the phrases, it’s a lot easier. Hebdomada means week; feria means weekday; dominica means Sunday. Lots of the words are cognates (like Introitus, which means introit). For the rest, Google Translate is your friend.

yes i knew most of the words off the top of my head, but it just makes it that much harder to find what you need

There are exceptions; the Graduale Romanum indicates them. For example for this week (24th in OT), the Gradual is different on Monday of year I and Wednesday of Year II, and the communion antiphon is different for Monday of year II. The Propers are very much attached to the readings of the day.

yes true but in general they are the propers of the day, just as during OT, the priests prayers dont usually change, unlesss theres a feast
