Any of you been involved in this? My wife and I did the course several years ago and it really did help us lose weight.

Anyway, kind of sounds like its founder, Gwen Shamblin, has went off the deep end, denying the Trinity and founding her own church, which some have accused of being a cult.

Just wondered if anyone knew anything about this.

I have also heard that Gwen Shamblin has apparently lost her way…
Probably something we should all pray about, since, before this, as OP noted, her work was helpful to a number of people…

Hello, I live in Nashville, TN and am very familiar with Gwen Shamblin, the self-proclaimed prophetess of the Remnant Fellowship church which sprang from the WeighDown Workshop. This church fits all the definitions of a cult. I would suggest you visit this site www.spiritwatch.org There is quite a bit of info on this site about her and RF. This site is devoted to counter-cult information and has been helpful to many people in several different ways. I might add that I have family in this cult and they have been associated with it for several years. The heartbreak and estrangement of members and their families has been tremendous. There are several testimonies on the spiritwatch site and I would invite you to read them.

I only happened upon your site today because I have Google to alert me any time Gwen’s name is mentioned on the internet.

My prayer is that this information will be helpful to you in your discernment about this church/cult and its teachings.

www.spiritwatch.org has Roman Catholicism also listed as a cult, so this site loses all credibility with me.

I took a weigh down workshop about 10 years ago @ the Baptist church down the street. I thought the program was good. I lost weight easily - prayed more and watched my fullness signs - ate when hungry - stopped when full. I did not expect the scriptural interpretations to be Catholic - I knew it was a protestant based course.
I signed on a month or so ago for the online Weigh Down Advanced course - I can honestly say I wasn’t paying much attention to the actual workbook as I just went back to hunger signals, turning from food as an idol and praying more via my Lenten companion and daily Mass readings.
While in an online class I noticed an antiCatholic inference which really bothered me. I called and subsequently was able to talk with a WeighDown representative of Gwen Shamblein… She was really speaking a bit of anti-Catholic talk - priest abuse - sins of the Catholic church - justifying putting pope in category with Hitler as a possible man of lawlessness i.e. the antiChrist due to the sins of the Catholic Church. The Remnant Church (founded out of weigh down and Gwen is leader it appears)is viewed as the one and only true church.
I have done more research online re: Weigh Down, the founder Gwen and the Remnant Fellowship Church. It is possibly a cult. However, even if not I would not feel comfortable supporting an Anti-Catholic program. The funds from Weigh Down support the Remnant Church.
