As the title says, this is a weird question, but it’s something I’ve been wondering about.

Of course, when you start and end the rosary with the Sign of the Cross, you use the rosary’s crucifix to do it. But what do you do when you pray a chaplet with, say, a saint’s medal instead of a crucifix (e.g. the St. Michael Chaplet, which has a St. Michael medal on it)? Do you cross yourself with the medal? Thanks in advance.

I don’t cross myself with any rosary or chaplet, I use my hand. There is nothing that says you have to use the crucifix and nothing that says you can’t. It is a private devotion.
