Does anyone else’s procession resemble more of a 100-yard dash than the beginning of Mass?

I grew up bowing as the cross passes, a practice that I know is acceptable but not required, and still do it frequently out of habit. But I can’t do it anymore at my current parish because the acolytes whoosh by me so quickly I can practically feel the breeze.

I’m not feeling angry or nit-picky about it; it’s just an odd and curious practice. Could it be because my parish and sanctuary are so huge and Father Good Priest is in a hurry to get started? Young and nervous acolytes, perhaps?

Young and nervous acolytes
This would be entirely possible!

Whilst I don’t bow to the processional cross as it passes by, though a lady who sits in my pew does, I do however bow to Father as he passes by - processing both in and out. This lady also does this (at least I have observed her doing so on occasion) as do a couple in front of me.

Could be. Might not hurt to ask. Young acolyte might not have thought about it and may appreciate your perspective.

And this prevents you from bowing… why?
