Weird question

Whenever I look at someone, anyone, I get a sexual feeling. This happens regardless of who it is, man, woman, or child. It really bothers me. Throw in my OCD, and this can be very hard to deal with. Maybe the OCD is the reason that I can’t get it out of my head, but that doesn’t explain the feelings. The feelings are not very strong, not strong enough to tempt me, but definently enough to deeply disturb me. Any ideas?
 
You need professional help. A professional (psychologist or psychiatrist) would be the one to know all the possibilities and have the ability to prescribe drugs that might help if any.
If it doesn’t ease soon you should go see what your affordable choices are and check some out. It sounds to me like two possible things that could be going on are OCD interfering with your ability to redirect your thoughts, and a hormonal imbalance. A professional would know what else it could be and try treatments.

Honestly, I kind of think this is a mental issue.

Yes you are sinning. But in your situation it can be more complicated. You need to see a doctor to control whatever it is that you have. Your ability to stop your sexual feelings for man, woman and/or child is what needs to be addressed before you go out and hurt someone. That right here is my main concern.
 
You need two types of professional help. First a psychiatrist. You probably already have one, let him or her know what’s going on, and let him / her treat you. Next, see your pastor in his office, and let him know what’s going on.

If you don’t have control over your thoughts, there can not be sin, in my understanding of it. If you can get help and don’t, there is the sin. My warning to you is this. Get help before your thoughts possibly lead to actions that can cause anothers harm. Get help asap.

I’m not going to hurt anyone. The feelings aren’t strong, no where near as strong as my normal feelings toward women. They really just make me feel bad because I am trying to get closer to the Lord, and I think these feelings are slowing me down. I don’t know if you know this, but it’s possible to get the “feelings” toward somthing you would not be attracted to. If the OCD is bothering me, I get it towards anything, not just people. If I’m not being effected by OCD, it rarely bothers me. As you can see, it is pretty complicated. Anyway I NEVER allow any thoughts that come to stay. I do not harbor them.

If you are trying to get closer to the Lord, the best thing you can do is lay your problems at the base of His cross. You right now are carrying your cross. When it becomes to heavy that is when you have to ask the Lord for His help. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope others will do the same. Sometimes the Lord walks with you and many times the Lord will carry you. God Bless.

Listen, if this kind of stuff is bothering you, yes, definitely go find a psychiatrist to see if there’s anything you need to be taking or something, but, otherwise, I mean, we all think about sex a lot. Thinking about sex itself isn’t bad. It’s kind of like when you let it dominate you, and it doesn’t sound like you are, and you’re definitely not acting on your thoughts. Humans can think a lot of things that aren’t very nice, and that doesn’t mean we’re sinning. We’re judged on how we act. So chill. Until you start doing something unsavory because of these thoughts, chill.

So long as you do not give into the sexual feeling, you’re not sinning. Talk to a Priest about your spiritual situation in Confession and talk to a psychologist about your mental problem. Speaking as someone with OCD, you can overcome this. I did.

No one’s sexuality is cut and dry. Our sexuality is very fluid and sometimes one may have sexual feelings towards the same gender or children or whatever. It is what your predominate feelings gravitate to that determines your sexual orientation. So when these fleeting thoughts roam your mind just let them go. You know whether or not your feelings are so strong that you may act upon them. If not, then consider yourself a normal human whose sexuality is not confined to predetermined boundaries. My bet is that your OCD is making what all of us deal with normally into a magnified dilemma. Anyone who says that they never ever 100% of the time had a sexual thought outside their normal orientation is in denial or just won’t admit to it. So, you are not weird and God loves you indeed.Talk this over with a priest if it makes you feel better and enjoy your relationship with a God who made you and loves you as you are…God Bless…teachccd 🙂
 
The more you worry about this, the more you might make your brain come up with these thoughts-- just out of anxiety! So relax and know that you’re not consenting to these thoughts, and they will very likely go away.

It’s also possible that you’re having some kind of physical hormone problem, so you might want to get checked out by a medical doctor if you keep getting bothered by this all the time. I mean, it’d be annoying to find out that all this trouble was being caused by some stupid cyst on some little cell, keeping it sending out nerve signals or hormones or something all the time…
 
AJ, this sounds to me like it is primarily a mental health issue. You are not doing anything wrong; you are being given a tough time by your own head. Your mind is trying to give you a guilt trip, and it’s succeeding. Consult a professional. And, yes, humans do think about sex quite a bit. There’s nothing you can do to change biology.

Relax A.J. We often think about the very things we fear! Example: If I tell you NOT to think about a red corvette, and that ANY thoughts about red corvettes is forbidden, what is the first thing you are going to think about? 😃

Sometimes our brain has a way of doing their own thing. Whenever you have a disturbing, or sexual thought about anyone or anything ask yourself this: “If given the opportunity, would I actually ACT upon this thought?”

Also it’s important to remember that the body’s sexual mechanism can be triggered by things we aren’t even aware of.
My advice to you is this: As long as you don’t have the desire to act on these thoughts don’t give this another minute’s worry!

A secular psychologist is the last person he needs to talk to! Most secular psychologists are worthless pimps for the pharmeceutical companies and will to their best to convince him that he needs drugs. The best thing he can do is this: As long as he has no desire to act on these thoughts, Don’t worry about them!" 👍

Unwanted thoughts are NOT SINFUL!
 
Prayer and regular Confession. Satan tempts us all, and many find as they move closer to the Lord, temptations can feel at times to overpower our thoughts and at times our actions. But we have been given tools to assist us.

A psychologist might be able to assist you, but the Church has tools to assist you also.

The Rosary is a good tool I have found to stop sexual thoughts. If you feel uncomfortable thoughts coming on, say some Hail Marys and prayers to St Michael the Arch Angel.

I read your post on sexual thoughts and feelings. That is quite common. I had it really bad for a while.

Now I know you have the internet so you are exposed to all sorts of lust of the eyes and lust of the flesh which as St. Paul says “wage war against the soul.”

The only way you are going to have peace of mind is in resisting your passions for lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh.

The flesh will complain but you must resist looking at porn, soft porn, swimsuit issue, bikinis, all that.

I bet always thinking sexual things is making it hard to look people in the eye, then comes fear and all the rest.Its becoming strong enough to be sexual tendencies.

By fervor of the Spirit you will learn discipline to mortify your flesh and to look away “ABSTAIN from fleshly lusts! which wage war against the soul.”- St. Paul.

You can and will have purity of mind if you filter what comes into it. Violently and manfully resist the desire to gratify lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh and your freedom is dawning already.

St. Paul urges us to “be renewed in the spirit of your mind” and “be transformed in your mind!”

Jesus said “evil thoughts proceed from an evil heart.”

Pray with the Psalmist “Create a clean heart in me O LORD, and renew a right spirit within me!”

Resist your lustful passions with determined resolve. Purify your heart and mind, wash your hands

Reading my Bible everyday while keeping my eyes pure really put perversion of mind to utter death.
