Never mind the Eastern Churches in full communion. Whosent existence, by the way, seem like they should be a major curve ball for Protestant claims.

You know I don’t know if those people know this but you can look it up and look up Fulton sheen Melkite Divine Liturgy it was not done in Latin
 
One odd thing I heard while growing up was that Catholics don’t go barefoot.

Was the person who said that a Christian? Because I’m pretty sure if they had read the Old Testament they would know that ashes are a very important part of the Jewish faith especially in terms of repentance and fasting.
 
I think Ash Wednesday must be universally misunderstood. I bought an Orthodox Study Bible and in Matthew 6:16 where Jesus instructed people to not look like they are fasting:
16 “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

the notes on that verse said, “This is why Orthodox don’t have Ash Wednesday”. However, my understanding as a Catholic is that the ashes on ash Wednesday are to remind us that we come from dust and to dust we shall return, not to express to everyone we are fasting that day.

If I recall correctly neither do Eastern Catholics and also why did they not have a problem with it before the Great Schism? The Western celebration of Ash Wednesday was not a reason for the breakup of the church

You know I know my Bible pretty well and I’m a little confused how people can say anything about the church like that it is the whore of Babylon and the Pope is the Antichrist. Of course I’m not God so I don’t know how to judge the situation but it does make me wonder if they are not in fact the Antichrist themselves? But again pure speculation. The aliens one is beyond me

The alien comments came from a coworker who read Petrus Romanus and Exo Vaticana, two books that, IMHO, are insulting to writers more than faithful Catholics. After all, why should anyone get relegated to the slush pile while that garbage gets published?

The whore of Babylon tripe came from a SDA aunt.
