Weird thing at the Holy Mass

Yes, the bishop was right there but that doesn’t mean we know if he knew what was going to happen or if it was planned by someone else. You are right we should focus on who is being brought to us but we should also be very concerned about how he is brought to us. That is why these rules were set up because someone cared about how Jesus is brought to us.

Well, I guess I am too focused on Who rather than whom, to think of belonging to any very concerned lay committee. I also understand that it is not my place to bring a critical eye to the Holy Mass, but I tend to be more easy-going and forgiving of the occasional little faux pas, and am always open to the possibility of a lesson from the Holy Spirit every moment. But if it brings anyone any joy and peace to want to stand guard over those who are actually consecrated to make sure they do their ecclesial actions according to the letter of the law rather than the spirit of law, then it must be a good thing, I suppose. It just seems like that sort of happiness is so short-lived and hardly worth the effort.

Well it’s not in the spirit of the law either (i.e. to make sure people can receive when ministers aren’t available).

Either way the OP asked if it was weird. Long and short, yes it was unusual. We were merely pointing out why it was (and should be) unusual

I really don’t see that as a problem. I mean, you saw it happen once? That may have been the sole incident concerning that matter. It may be a problem if it happen every time. But, we must understand that the most important thing is the most Holy of all Sacraments, the Communion, I believe. And done that way was not so bad. They did what they had to, and no pastor will ever on purpose offend that Sacrament.

That wasn’t just once, almost every sunday mass. It makes me uncomfortable too. There are enough ministers, even if the new mass is like that, I don’t see the women’s positions there.

The priest chooses who he accepts or don’t accept as his altar servers, emch’s etc in the parish and who does what when. Its his discretion.
