A coffee shop I go to regularly has Lavender Coffee.
It’s really different— both earthy and floral.

My mom always put a pinch of salt into her grounds before brewing. I’m never asked where she learned to do it but she stated it helped to cut the bitterness, especially in cheaper coffee. Maybe it’s something left over from rationing days…she was a young woman during WWII, and married my dad during the war…so, possibly it was a military habit that they carried on.As for salt, I read that a small pinch was added by some in the navy, presumably before brewing. I’ve tried it but don’t notice a difference. Anyone heard of this?
Where I read it was a novel, and the character who added the bit of salt would be a WWII-era sailor. I imagine it a bygone custom. My mom always put a pinch of salt into her grounds before brewing. I imagine someone on a strict low sodium diet might have an issue…until they actually calculate how much salt they’ve really gotten! Plus, some people just love to make an issue about anything!I made the mistake of trying it at work. I made a coworker quite peeved, even though it was only about a
dozen grains on the grounds to make a dozen cups.
That’s not funny!Kidding. I don’t drink coffee.
