Weird vocations conversation

I was just having a good converation with an Urseline sister. Well, good, except she said one thing that, although true, was very weird hearing coming from her point of view. She was referencing how her order was dying off.

“The problem is, the only people following vocations today are the traditionalists looking to join orders like Mother Theresa’s. Which is fine, but its kind of sad, because we’ve bent over backwards to accomodate people coming into our order, and it doesn’t do any good.”

…a case of, “Everything you said is right. So what’s your point?”

True Catholics today, ones that are willing to give up everything for Christ, don’t want to be “accomedated” they want to follow the hard road for Jesus.

What happened to the Ursaline sisters is tragic. And even more so…I guarantee you she doesn’t see the reason for the “traditionalists”.

Did you by any chance point out to her that since the Ursulines were caught up in New Age and Radical Feminism, they ceased to be Catholic? And since those discerning Vocations (such as myself) are looking for a Catholic order, not a Wiccan coven?

They are lost and blind, and I cringe when I see their websites. They are no longer Catholic, they are no longer faithful and they don’t realize they have completely deviated and are now ruled by the devil.

How very very sad.

How did you happen to begin talking to her?

She was at the parish bbq at my church, and I had sat with her and met her. I asked what the ursaline charism was, and a bit about their order, since I didn’t know much about it at all.

We were discussing theology for a while, and the converesatoin was actually quite fruitful. I enjoyed it very much. However, I’m pretty sure I got a scowl out of her when I said something degrading about Hans Kung.

Is there any portion of the theological discussion you had that you can share? Maybe some information from their point of view?

(I’m really searching for some hope for their congregation, maybe some actual understanding for them).

If it’s too personal, though, please disregard. I’m very nosy and I love to pry…but at the same time I have no desire to get stung!

In any case, in very general terms, how was your conversation “fruitful?”
