Which would you be more comfortable attending
  1. A banquet for the King where everybody dresses in their finest, knows how to behave, and recognizes the King’s presence? or
  2. A banquet where everybody is so concerned with running it their way that the King gets lost in the shuffle and nobody even acknowledges that he’s present?
Now, at which banquet does the King need you the most?

I’d always wanted to attend a church where everything is done correctly and where I wouldn’t be frustrated because of liturgical abuses; however, my husband said that the church we are presently at needs us the most. So we will continue to fight the good fight. We will not abandon Jesus.

Until the OP comes in, we don’t know for sure but I think that it’s an innovative vs. historically Catholic parish thing. To me it looks like someone has taken over to do their own thing.

My opinion is that as long as we continue to support the churches that throw in any innovation that comes down the pike, the people in power there, continue to have the power. No one changes, they just dig their heels in. Only a new priest can change a parish.

Move your money and support a parish doing what you need. I did, many of my friends did. Now our parish without innovation is growing and the old one still bleeds parishioners.

It speaks volumes that in your analogy you chose the banquet theme. Many today see the mass as purely a meal so that view is understandable.

Of course since the Mass is above all the unbloody re-presentation of the sacrifice of Christ under the appearance of bread and wine offered to the Father, I would imagine that one should be where that is actually done and recognized as such, rather than in a setting where the sacrifice is minimized or actually forgotten by many as is often the case these days…
 
Sorry for the confusion folks. I guess my thread title was vague and my analogy confusing. What it boils down to is trying to decide whether or not to remain in our parish or move to one which is more clearly orthodox. It’s not a TLM vs NO thread, but a personal issue - to stay and try to make a difference or to go where we would be more comfortable. As much as I might want to move on, I am not the one making the final decision.

Are you sure you want to leave?
It sounds like you are rationalizing.

Jesus is in every Catholic Church.

Go to a second mass alone for a few Sundays. If that is where God is leading you, you will end up there.

I’m married, and I’m not going to force an issue that might create disharmony every Sunday. Our parish has several things to work on but is not grossly in error; therefore, I believe the worse sin would be to dishonor my husband. He believes we should stay and try to make a difference rather than to run to a church which would be more comfortable. This would not be my first choice, but I believe it is a noble reason to remain.

Our Lord wants your husband to lead his household but cherish his wife. If you have a true covenant marriage, he should be considering your feelings as well.

Personally, I would be attending a Holy Mass without him even if you go with him to the parish where you are having a problem, as well.

Pray to St. Monica. Ask that either you become comfortable in his choice or he becomes comfortable in yours.

This assumes that the Mass we presently attend is not holy. However, since the errors I speak of are not of a gross nature the Mass remains valid. Sorry if I made it seem as if our church was in gross violation.
