Well that was rather annoying

Okay, I just got off the phone with the police. Last night, or perhaps Sunday night, someone drove 18 screws each into the right front and right rear tires of my car. Let me be clear. Each tire had exactly the same number of screws, 18, totaling 36 screws. they were 5/8" philips head wood screws. The screws were all on the inboard tread area of the tire so they were not immediately visible with a casual inspection.

While the screws were fairly evenly distributed, both tires had a section where there were no screws at all.

The screws had all been driven straight in.

The manager at the tire store said it could not possibly be anything other than vandalism. The same number of screws, the even distribution, all went straight in, all on the inside, no screws in one section on each tire was just too much to be an accident. Even if I

Since there is not much room in the wheel well, I suspect the vandals used a tool like this to drive them in.

I am not angry, but I am confused. I have not had a chance to talk to my neighbors and see if I am the only victim. I really have no clue who would do this. I do not have any enemies, except a few people on this forum, but they do not know where I live. I live in a quiet neighborhood where crime and such is exceedingly rare.

I just do not understand. I mean driving this many screws took some time. Who in the world could hate me that much? 🤷

Oh well, whomever they are, I forgive them. I am just relieved I did not have a blowout or get stranded by the side of the road. That would have been really tough as I still am on crutches.

I should add that I had gotten new tires in March so there were not many miles on the tires. Astonishingly, this appears to have been covered by the tire warranty so I am not out any money.

You may not know the offender at all. He or she could just be really obsessed with perfection.

What kind of vehicle? Maybe that was the source of this rage?Gashog?Yugo?

It’s not necessarily anyone who has anything against you personally.

I had my house broken into soon after I moved in - nothing was taken (nothing work taking really) except the dishes which were drying on the sideboard - they were simply strewn all over the backyard. I know it couldn’t have been anyone I knew, and that my yard was often a popular shortcut for local people too 🤷

Sometimes it’s just bored, drunk or stoned people (I was going to say teenagers but it’s unfair to presume they’re of a certain age) looking for a laugh or a thrill.

When I was in college a number of us had our tires slashed. One front tire and one back tire on opposite sides. Later on about two years ago a number of us out here had our suvs broken into and the contents of the console stolen. Besides being suvs the one thing we all had in common was that the cell phone chargers were taken out of all the vehicles. Oh, the thief’s were smart too, they did this on a rainy night. No finger prints for the police to get. Otherwise the officer told us he would have dusted. I have found that often times these things are done to more than one person. It’s definitely a good idea to check with your neighbors.

I’m glad you weren’t hurt and that the tires were covered by the warranty. 🙂 That’s definitely something to be thankful for.

Unforunately the one thing people need to look out for when they get their homes broken into is whether or not the bills were taken. I have friends that had their home broken into and one of things that was taken was their bills. 😦

Humm…A vandal with OCD…😉

Further proof that people at CAF skip over posts.
Sorry, I did not connect “obsessed with perfection” to “obsessive compulsive disorder”. You post was not ignored. I just could not come up with a snappy answer.

That totally stinks rpp! I am sorry that happened.😦 You feel violated when something like that happens!

I doubt anyone ‘hates’ you…people do weird things. But, you might want to think if you upset anyone recently.😛 I’m kidding. Even if you upset someone, that’s no excuse to vandalize someone’s property.

I’m sorry again…😦

That’s the quirky part of “road hazard” coverage. It won’t cover a typical flat, but it will cover something as bizarre as this.

Go figure 🤷

this is funny. when i posted a hotly contested thread on a particular family with seventeen kids last year, I wondered if I was going to wake up to find a severed horse head in my bed.

but I realized that when I make Catholic enemies, they stop praying for me-- which, I think, is worse than horse-heads.

I guess I better be more careful. I really need the prayers.

by the way, rrp, how long do you figure it took for one person to do that kind of meticulous damage?

Bills? As in gas, electricity etc? For identity theft purposes or something? The easiest way to get those would be to rip them out of people’s mailboxes if you can. I know that is sometimes done in this neighbourhood, but my mailbox is secure.

Yep, took the whole stack. Of course their credit card bills where in the stack too. We assume that is what they were really after, concerning the bills. They also took a number of other things from the house as well.

What crazy fool would do such a thing?
Answer: The crazy fool who did it. :o

I’m glad you are okay.

Yep, I have been on a few threads like the one you described.

As for how long do I think it took, I would say less than 5 minutes if the used a battery-driven electric drill or screwdriver with a right-angle attachment. I suspect they got it from dad’s workshop.

Well, I guess there are all nuts who are not on this forum after all. Who’d a thunk it.

Just for the record,
it wasn’t me.
