My husband came home tonight after visiting some family graves in a Catholic cemetery. He brought home some water from a well (the kind that has a pump) that was in the cemetery. He said that the water was blessed because it came from a blessed cemetery, and that it also tasted good, so I drank some of it. So it’s not Holy Water exactly, but is it blessed because it came from a blessed cemetery? He brought the water home in a cup, and later I went to wash the cup, forgetting that the water was inside it. I poured it down the kitchen sink, and then realized after I was already dumping it out, that it was the water from the cemetery. I doubt that it was a mortal sin because I didn’t remember what was in the cup before I started dumping it. I may have been able to stop dumping it, but I guess I really wasn’t completely positive it was blessed water. Was the water blessed? I would think it isn’t exactly a sacramental like Holy Water, but it did come from a blessed cemetery. Thoughts?

It is not blessed, though the cemetary probably is. No harm, but don’t drink it because it is not potable.

This has got to be a joke. Who would drink water from a source under a cemetery?! Blessed? Contaminated with embalming fluid and decaying body fluids is more likely.

Just in case this is not a joke/troll comment… do not drink water that comes from underneath a cemetery. It is harmful to your health.

I assure you, this is not a joke. We drank water that came from a well pump in a cemetery. Too late now. My husband said it was in a part of the cemetery away from the graves. Apparently it is for watering flowers that people put on graves. Believe me, I won’t drink it again.
