My best friend from high school goes to University of Dayton. He said he’s never seen so many Ford Tauruses in his life.

Dayton Ohio for 10mos…who knows about Dayton!!!
OH BOY

I totally know Dayton. It is approx two hours from where I grew up, and my husband and I both went to University of Dayton. The area has great schools and alot to offer.

Two of my best Air Force wife friends are currently stationed at Dayton, both very good Catholic Women.

We actually plan to get stationed at Wright Patt eventually so we can retire there. My SIL lives in Waynesville. so we go there every time we visit home.

The areas surrounding Dayton are very family-friendly.

The Dayton Air Force Museum is amazing. If I can answer any specific questions let me know.

I think you can find alot to be happy about for 10 mos. It also has a high Catholic population.

There are two great outdoor theaters not to be missed. They both feature a Native American outdoor play. Blue Jacket is in the Xenia area and Tecumseh is in Chillicothe OH.

University of Dayton has very interesting speakers and they often have nice art displays in the Roesch Library. We made a trip there a few years ago for an art display in the Library of Marian art from around the world.

There is a fun little park next to U.Dayton with a little reproduction of a town and Orville and Wilbur Wrights bicycle shop, etc. Kids would enjoy it.

Woohoo! Great info all – Eamon, I have to laugh, I suppose my blue honda minivan will fit right in…

Peace, how 'bout suburbia’s best schools? That’s my main concern…we’ll be renting, so a home with good schooling is the big deal breaker here…thanks!! (PS, I noticed there’s a town Verona – that’s where I grew up – in NJ tho!)

Hello leaner,

I’ve only been to Dayton for several days while taking a computer training class, but from what little I’ve seen, I liked it. 🙂 I was mostly on the edge of suburbia in a hotel off the highway, with pleasant countryside on the drive down from Northeast Ohio. Hmmmm … maybe I ought to drive down there if I have a free Saturday, being the avid nature / weather / landscape photographer I am, and not having explored the area in depth. But Peace-bwu was mentioning Chillicothe. Not too far away from there is the Hocking Hills region, which is absolutely beautiful and where I spend many vacation days taking my pictures now. If you can tear me away from the Hocking Hills (and Kelley’s Island for that matter), Dayton indeed is worth a trip.
