I visited a Ukrainian Catholic Church this past weekend, not too far from my house. It was really neat! The icons were beautiful and the priest was wonderful.

It’s really cool to see the connections we as Roman Catholics have with our Eastern Rite bretheren. There are Maronite, Byzantine, Melkite and Chaldean parishes where I live that I’d like to visit as well. It’s a wonderful experience to connect with the other Rites!

Anyway, I just thought I’d share. What heavenly riches we have as Catholics!

There is one a few blocks from my apartment and as some of my ancestors were Ukrainian Catholics I’ve long thought of going. I’m glad to hear you got a lot out of it. The only reason I haven’t been is I’d have to give up a TLM since I can’t make it to the UC weekday Liturgies. One of these days, though.

Glad you enjoyed it, but I’m more than certain Our Lord and Lady were glad to see you there!

I also visited the local Ukrainian Catholic parish. Every once in a while I need a dose of the Byzantine rite to innoculate me against some of the things I know I’ll see at my home parish.

Definitely check out the Melkite parish. They tend to be the least latinized of the Byzantine rites. And see if they have a middle eastern food festival like mine does. Then youre in for a REAL treat!
