I have a moral dilemma of sorts.
It involves a website called Gaia Online, actually.

You see, like we have social groups, they have guilds.
I joined a Christian guild that allows anybody of any denomination or belief as long as they respect each other.

Well, during one of our topics, there was an argument with someone saying ‘I’m glad there are so many false Christians here’ referring to the people who weren’t religious, but joined the guild to learn, observer, ask questions, and debate.
When I defended them, saying they have a right to learn about us, that person replied “Learn from you? You’re openly bisexual. That’s a one way ticket to hell.”

Yes, I’m bisexual and they learned this from my signature. (Nerdy, bisexual…Christian. Yay me!)
I’m actually still arguing with them right now, saying I don’t practice it AND I didn’t specify if it’s morally right or wrong in my eyes.
I let people know so that they’ll understand that even Christians can have attractions like that.

Okay, ignoring the long story, I just want to ask and ponder, can a sinner be a good example.
I believe so, because we’re ALL sinners, but we’re not all bad people.
Even if there’s a part of us that’s bad, there’s always something good that we can share with others.
At least, that’s how I look at things…what do you think?

First and foremost, I want to say “YAY YOU!!!” Good on you for being bi and not practicing! You must be a shining beacon of light to those struggling with SSA around you:thumbsup:

Those people are WAY out of line. Your cross of being bisexual is probably a much harder one to bear than anything they will ever do! In addition to that, you don’t act on your urges!

Explain to them that temptation is not sin. Giving in to temptation is sin. Every person is tempted by different things. For you it’s other women, for me it’s that giant tub of ice cream . Neither temptation is a sin unless you have sex with another woman or I miss Mass because I’m sitting around with a spoon and a sore tummy.

Of course sinners can be good role models. Would you say that Blessed Mother Theresa or St. Augustine (my favorite Saint when dealing with issues of chastity) or PJPII aren’t good role models? Guess what, they’re sinners too!

Maybe this is just me being mean here, but sins of the soul are much worse than sins of the flesh. So their pride in telling you that you’re going to Hell is much more of a one-way ticket there than you having SSAs!

Don’t give me TOO much credit, now, I don’t act on them more for the fact that I enjoy being a virgin, and know that even if I found a girl I liked I couldn’t marry them.
I actually disagree with the Catholic church on their stance, but because I trust my pastors and the like when they say it wouldn’t be good if I acted on it, I still don’t do anything about it.

Anyways, the Mother Theresa story is a great example.
I’ve always loved and admired her for what she’s done for this world.

If you have any questions about the church’s stance, or why it believes what it does, lay them on me! I’d be more than happy to answer them, or find answers for you!

You are being a good example by not acting on your temptation(bisexuality)…The person who told you about going to hell is judging you and we’re not supposed to do that…We are all sinners and we all face temptation…The best way to fight temptation, I feel, is to pray and to stay away from harmful and sinful situations…

For the most part I know and even understand the church’s stance.
It’s optimism that gets me, I suppose…I believe marriage should be more about having a life partner to assist you and keep you happy than to simply make a family.
Not to say the church says marriage is ALL about making babies, mind you, that’s just the image I tend to get, even though I know in my head that’s probably not all of it.

Well a life-partner to assist you and keep you happy is available to everyone! If I decided to live with my best friend and make them my life partner, that wouldn’t be an issue. It’s only when sex enters the equation it becomes sinful.

You are doing a job by not acting on bisexuality, but placing “bisexual” next to Christian is scandelous. It would appear to others that you are flaunting your bisexuality and that you are saying Christians can be practicing bisexuals. If you wish to glory in the cross of bisexuality, I encourage you to keep it secret, unless someone specifically asks a question about bisexuality; this way, you will not only be not causing scandal but you will also be bearing your cross in a humble manner, and you will get the chance to speak out on the Church’s stance on sexuality. Another way you can glory in the cross is by saying in your signature “Please pray for me, as I bear with patience the cross of bisexuality.” This will show people that you do not flaunt your sexuality and that (rightly so) you need help in bearing the cross.

Ah, I see what you mean there.
I want bisexuals and the like to feel welcomed in our church, but I don’t want to flaunt it like that.
nods
I should redo my signature.
