On another forum, I read that Baptists (who this poster claims among many denominations was founded by Christ) went to “fiery deaths quoting scripture, refusing to baptize their infants.” To what might he be referring?

The anabaptists were executed by both the Catholic and the Reformed on these grounds. From what I understand, the Catholic preferred to fry them while the reformed prefer to drown them.

However the anabaptists are predecessors to the Mennonites, not the Baptists.

There were “Reformed” in the early Church? And what “Catholics” did the executing? This guy was talking 1st and 2nd century, I believe.

If he was talking 1st and 2nd century, then he obviously doesn’t know what he is talking about. I thought he was referring about the anabaptists in the 1500s or so.

The reformed I was referring to were the Zwingli folks and their descendents (although John Calvin also persecuted the anabaptists and had one killed).

Ah. Since this guy said all these denominations were formed by Christ and the apostles, I can only presume he meant 1st century. Maybe I’ll have to register there and ask him. Thanks anyway, mozart.

Do any you have any real and legitimate references for your statements, because I can write and print fairy tales to.
