I love Disney–we go once a year.
If you don’t care for the parades, that’s a great time to go do rides–lines are shorter.
Decide what rides you HAVE to do before you arrive and if they’re FastPass rides, go early to get them so that you have a time to come back—then go play…
If you have fussy eaters–go on line and get the menus early. Decide where you’d like to eat so that you’re all in agreement–even make a ressie now if it’s a sitdown. . nothing is more likely to induce cranky behavior from EVERYONE than wandering around from venue to venue, trying to find food that agrees with everyone. My daughter is horribly fussy, lives on pasta and chicken fingers and peanut butter sandwiches–my husband is not as fussy, but isn’t exactly adventerous. My son is fairly agreeable to try anything, but doesn’t want to walk forever. We all hit our hunger wall going through the World Showcase last year—daughter wanted to go back to McD’s (NOT), son wanted to be carried, hubby just wanted to stop and eat–but not German, not Morrocan, not the Norwegian, not this, not that…Let’s just say my word choices weren’t too loving by this point and if you saw us, you’d really disagree this was the happiest place in the world.
In Epcot–don’t miss Soarin’ it’s amazing…
Make character meal ressies before you leave…we did get lucky last year and got in spontaneously for the Garden Grill–in fact, they bent over backwards so that we could make our FastPass for Test Track…(last ride of the day). (by the way–this was right after the “we can’t decide where to eat” nightmare—so I think God was sending me a message to relax and just enjoy and we grabbed it!)
The American pavilion in Epcot–make sure you get there early in order to enjoy the pre-show chorale group–Voices of Liberty. You feel the spirit of the America. Also–see the show–you’ll be moved.
If it’s your first time, do be sure to see “It’s a Small World” and some of the classic Disney rides----though I have to admit–since this was our kids first time in Magic Kingdom in years, we opted to do it, but I suddenly remembered half way through the song drove me nuts and there’s something decidely creepy about the singing dolls…and since my kids didn’t love it, either–that was probably our last time on it!
Let’s see…you know–just go have fun!!! Don’t try to do everything–just enjoy. That’s my biggest mistake–I feel compelled to catch every little thing and the kids and hubby are tired. Keep a pace that allows everyone to enjoy, and keep the blood sugar stable, and you’ll have fun.
