Praise be to Jesus Christ!

This morning, at the 9:00 am Holy Mass, my wife and I received the sacraments of onfirmation and first holy communion from Walter Schoenherr, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Our dear friend and fellow CAF member Detroit Sue drove from quite a distance to be with us on this special day, and was our confirmation sponsor, as well. Even one of my childhhod friends, himself an adult convert, drove in from Pittsburgh with his wife and 4 children to celebrate with us.

We went through many twists and turns on our road to conversion, but finally, we’re here, and it feels SO GOOD to finally be home!

God Bless,
Dan

What wonderful joy you must feel, and I would think that you would want everyone to feel that same joy. You are blessed.

The toughest thing is to be a good Catholic. Your strength will be in the Eucharist…you will have LIFE in you.

God bless.

.

Congratulations and Welcome Home to you and your wife.

Peace,
Linda

There will be pictures as soon as I can find my USB cord for the camera. :o

It was absolutely awesome!! So as not to offend any one saint, D’s wife took the confirmation name of “St. Peace be With You.” 😃

The bishop was hard of hearing, and the priest is Slovak. The priest was prompting the bishop to say “Peace be with you” after the first confirmation, and he misunderstood it to be D’s wife’s name. The priest grinned, and it was so cute!!

BTW, she took the name of Theresa of Avila.

Oh man!! I wish we would have known, we would have been there too!!!

Congratulations 😃

(FYI, Bishop Schoenherr was the one who Confirmed me - back in 1980:thumbsup: )

We’re sure that dear St. Theresa understands :rotfl:

And I chose St. John Vianney, and Bp. Schoenherr got it right that time 😉

When I was sending out invitations, I totally forgot that you’d started attending our parish. When Fr. comes back into town and schedules the kids’ baptisms, you’ll be on my list.

No one is happier than I am Dan. Please pass on a big hug to your beloved for me and I thank God for the fellowship that we have shared through this long journey. It has certainly made me consider you one of my dearest friends in the faith. You have been and continue to be a rich blessing to me and a source of unending praise to God.

Love you Brother! 😃

Mr. & Mrs. djrakwoski and 3 of their little ones. I’m sorry - I completely did not get Alex in the pics. 👍

Congratulations and Welcome Home! Try to save this feeling and pull it out someday when you need it.

Thank you, Jen 🙂

In the front row, you see Alyssa (age 4), Lauren (age 6) and Jacob (age 7), and in the back, my dear wife Julie, Bp. Schoenherr, and yours truly. Just out of range of the picture, in front, is Alexander (age 3 months). And, behind all of us, you can see the statues of the patron saints of our parish, Ss. Cyril & Methodius (or, at least you can see their torsos!).

Our children held up reasonably well, considering that the two oldest have autistic spectrum disorders. By the time this picture was taken, they’d just about had it (not to mention, they wanted to go home and play with their friends, who came in from Pittsburgh to celebrate the sacraments with us).

The OP was made by our dear friend and confirmation sponsor. God bless ya, Sue! 🙂

Dear brother, you know that the feelings are mutual. I deeply appreciate all the guidance you’ve given along this journey.

By the way, everyone, Detroit Sue has posted a picture over here.

I went to 9:30 AM Holy Mass, and Fr. Ben - my pastor and spiritual advisor - smiled from ear to ear as he brought me Our Lord in the Eucharist. I thank God that He has guided us to such a sweet, holy and gracious priest! Pray for him as he travels the the west coast to celebrate the wedding of one of our former parishioners.

Dan
