Were rose vestments worn in your parish this Gaudete Sunday?

In my parish, the pastor brought out and used a beautiful rose (he calls it “salmon”) chausible and stole for Gaudete Sunday. This is an option, as purple can be worn instead, and some parishes do not have rose vestments. Were they worn in your parish this morning?

BTW: Never call them pink! 😃 Most priests will immediately correct you with “rose” or some other euphemism, even if the vestments are the color of Pepto-Bismol.
 
Rose in our parish. And your note not to call them “pink” reminds me of a priest at a nearby parish one Laetare Sunday, who recounted an exchange from earlier that morning with the pastor:

Priest: But these are PINK.
Pastor: No, they’re ROSE. Wear them.
Priest: I know PINK when I see it. I’m from the MTV generation and these are the same color as the PINK dress in Madonna’s “Material Girl” video. 😃
 
We have no rose vestments. The bishop was visiting and wore violet.

Our priest called them pink.
 
They were rose and Father made sure to remind us all that they are indeed rose and not pink.

Although I had to say to him after Mass, “I don’t know Father, they look awfully pink to me.”😃
 
Our Rose vestments were stolen several years ago and have never been replaced.

Why would anyone steal rose vestments?:rolleyes:
 
Our pastor had an ivory (white?) chasuable with a salmon colored stole.

Last spring, we had attended Mass at the parish of one of our former pastors. We met him in the sacristy after Mass and he was showing off the new vestments that the parish had bought, telling us about the good deal they gotten, etc. I love pink, so I commented on the PINK chasuable. He and the deacon both immediately corrected me - “It’s ROSE!” 🙂

Remember, I’m a man. Men can only see 16 colors. Rose is a flower. Salmon is a fish. I have no idea what puce is, but I don’t think I want to know.

LOL! Our pastor’s vestments were pink (rose?) and very noticeable from a distance… even from outside the church when he was standing near the door.
He said people commented on his “dress” and told him he looked “cute”. I hope he was kidding, but I fear he was not.
 
Sadly, our “rose” vestments are faded pink, which is not as bad as our silver vestments, which look gray.

One of the graces conferred upon ordination is the ability to distinguish the color rose from the color pink, and therefore clerics can see 17 colors. Using the word “pink” in my parish today would have cost you 500 Hail Mary’s, and a look that could curdle an egg at 1,000 paces.

I must remember your line above the next time we have to replace the carpeting, or some such. That’s priceless.
 
We had a strange variation. My parish has fuschia-colored vestments. They look like the color a monsignor wears. When I saw my PV after Mass I told him that I had lipstick the color of his vestments. He said, “I know. I had to purify the chalices and saw a huge pair of fuschia lip imprints.” 😃

I try to wear purples and pinks during Advent and Lent. I have several purple pieces that I wear and a few pink pieces. I even have eye and lip colors to coordinate.👍
 
The bishop was visiting and he and the two priests who concelebrated wore purple. The bishop gave some obscure reason for it. He did comment on the fact that song handouts for the day were printed on bright rose colored paper.

I think the pastor and the other priest wore purple so they’d be the same as the bishop. I know we have at least one “rose” chasuble (I think it looks like fuchsia) and the pastor normally wears a more bluish shade of violet on the other Sundays of Advent. At least four of our deacons were at that Mass (that I noticed.) Of those four, two wore purple stoles and two wore rose stoles.

So the deacons were the only ones wearing rose.

Too funny!

I went to an Extraordinary Form Mass today and the priest was wearing a very lovely rose brocade chasuble. In my previous parish the priest flat out refused to wear “pink.” It’s one thing not to possess a pink vestment but I think it’s somewhat ungracious for a priest to bluntly tell people that he WILL NOT wear pink, thankyouverymuch. Anyhow, I was happy to see the rose vestment today. It takes a real man to wear rose brocade! 😛
 
I think some men look great in pink … oops, I mean, “rose.” 🙂
Our priests wore rose today, and the altar servers wore rose cinctures. The flowers in the sanctuary were beautiful pink – oops, rose-colored roses. 🙂

I totally love your signature and thought I was the only one that felt that way. When I was in my atheistic period in college, it was Bach & even earlier composers who re-convinced me that God exists.

When I (hopefully) get to Heaven – eventually – I’m bypassing most of the Saints except about 5 of them, and heading straight for the composers.

Those who sing pray twice, but those who hear and those who honor those composers by playing it, also pray twice.
 
No, of course they were not… since for the Byzantine Rite, Phillips Fast (advent) is Dark vestments, normally Red vestments. Father’s Phelonian, stole, cuffs and belt were cherry red with gold trim. 😉

So not all Catholics see purple and/or pink this week… 😃

Hopefully, all you who attended Roman Masses saw Purple and/or rose, and not anything else! 👍
 
Well, my pastor bought a set of “dusky rose” vestments. I, sadly, have an older “rose” stole that matched a set of vestments we used to wear. It’s pretty much “pink” no matter how you slice it!
