Were the Early Church Fathers Writings accurate? Fact, Fiction,or Faith

In my exploring of many different threads I have notice Catholics really heavy on the Early Fathers in debates. I have also notice non Catholics suggest that there are contradictions in some of the writings.These are the question that I have:

1. Did any of the Early Fathers speak “ex-Cathedra”?
2. Being humans were they free from error ?
3. What evidence is there their writings were indeed accurate?
4. Are the writings accuracy a matter of faith?

These are legitimate questions I have? I wish to learn so I ask that we keep emotions in check and please present facts, I’m willing to learn.

Multitudes of early Church writings such as St. Ignatius 107A.D. where heavily scrutinized by Catholic and Protestant and secular historians alike. They have almost universally accepted many early writings as authentic (especially Ignatius’ 7 letter before his execution) but there are many spurious letters revolving. If you want to know which ones are authentic, I’d listen to the Historians.
