Were there differences in the Mass from country to country before Vatican II?

I found the passage I was thinking of earlier today.

“With the promulgation of the various standard editions of the rites, Vatican II created a liturgical uniformity never before known to the Roman Catholic Church. Even the Council of Trent had allowed liturgical traditions over 200 years old to continue. Vatican II eliminated all such rites.”

(the book is copyright by the Archdiocese of Chicago - I don’t know how accurate it is )
Down in San Diego, there is a Old Carmelite Use Mass everyday.

for use in the Diocese of Lyons (France). The Monastic Orders that had their own Mass where the Franciscans, Dominicans,Benedictines,Servites, and Carmelites, Norbertines, and Carthusians.

There is no more Rite of Lyons, France. The Mozarabic Rite is growing. It is celebrated now in several parishes in Toledo.
The Benedictines, Servites, Franciscans never had their own rite.

I was told by the Dominicans that they no longer celebrate their own rite because of the cost of printing misseletes in those various languages. When I was in college in Seattle I served Mass for a Dominican priest who celebrated Mass privately. He had permission to celebrate the Old Rite. I read on this forum where the Dominicans in the Mid-West still celebrate the Old Dominican Rite. Thats great.
I read above that a poster attends a convent where the Carmelite Rite is still being used. Thats great to know.

**We have a wonderful Dominican parish nearby, and it doesn’t celebrate the Dominican Rite. **

However, these wonderful Dominicans celebrate Mass in a very reverent and orthodox way…More so than most of the other parishes in our Archdiocese…When it came time to do some renovation, they plainly did not want their church to be turned into some kind of “Worship Space”, so it is still lovely…Even has an altar rail. Of course, the archdiocese really can’t do much about it…Too bad .
