My mom died October 28, 2008. Friday, 10/31, was the six-year anniversary of her funeral. Two things happened that day that I think were messages from mom, through God. What do you think?

First,I was at my grandma’s house and was shopping for her, when I remembered that at the 1st of the month (yesterday),my bank automatically takes a payment out for a loan I took out last year. I had 0 in the bank. I usually borrow money from my dad, but it would be too late for me to go home and deposit a check. I resigned myself to being late on the payment, but before I left the store I had a hunch to play a scratch-off lotto ticket. I won just the right amount I needed, and deposited at an ATM on the way home.

Second, my dad was outside doing farm work and in the field there was a yellow rose blooming, where there was nothing before. The yellow rose was my mom’s favorite flower.

I found these happenstances- on the same day- telling. Life has been very hard since mom died, and I’ve felt her presence before. I think these events are mom’s way of saying she is with us and prays for us, and God’s way of saying that things will be OK.

Yes, I believe the Lord allows these lovely happenings for us.

My wife of 14 yrs died of Cancer…she never complained…had constant headaches, gained weight, lost her hair (my 4 y/o son and I shaved our heads)…3 other children under the age of 12…my oldest daughter was 12. she died 2001 May 25th , my favorite Saint’s birthday (Padre Pio)…my wife made video’s for each of the children, myself, her 6 brothers and sisters…just imagine knowing yr dieing…I could go on and on…but…when she finally passed…I greived as you might imagine…but continued to pray…she and I prayed together throughout our entire marriage…went to Mass on our first date…we prayed Rosary as a family every Sunday evening…daily Mass…again…when after she had died (at age 37)…I got called into the Hosp. one Sat. morning…and had her own my mind…praying w/out ceasing…praying for a sign…I couldn’t imagine her having to spend much ‘time’…such that time exisits…in purgatory…and getting out of my truck a bird landed on my shoulder…a bird…I just looked at it…and it looked at me…then just gently flew away…a couple of other little signs occurred that let me know all was well…believe or not…I believe…and I believe yr little Blessing was sent from Heaven…Peace to You

It’s enough for me that you feel she is with you and praying for you. Of course she is.

My dad loved the cheerful daffodils in the springtime and always bought some to have at home. He was ill with cancer when the daffies were in bloom and I bought some and brought them to him, put them in a vase. He was very appreciative of the kindness and died soon after. When I went to his house to continue my efforts to get it ready to sell, I found a silk daffodil resting on the ground right where I would have to step to get into the car. Where could that have come from? I sat and had a cry. It was like a hug and Thank You that came from him and God together. I have that silk daffodil by my icon of Christ. Their favorite flower is like their fingerprint coming into our physical world. Don’t let anyone take away the comfort it brought you.

I think we often are given reminders like this, and I think it’s a blessing when it happens.

I agree absolutely and take great comfort from the beautiful posts people have been willing to share in this thread.
It is indeed a gift from God that although the person we loved has gone from us, the strong tie of love remains unbroken - and sometimes God allows us to KNOW that in special ways.

God bless you all.
