Uh, the atheists were quite explicit that they do have a moral compass, and not one given them by a mere congressman.

I keep hearing this claim and keep expecting someone sometime in someway to state what that moral compass is. It is never offered. Since you know what this moral compass is would you please let us know?

I’ve recommended Kant to you at least twice; haven’t you read him yet?

And I have offered an explanation of how absolute morality can exist without God – mostly by paraphrasing Kant, Hobbes, and the golden rule as expressed by many including Jesus. For the first, I need only point out the Categorical Imperative: act only by that maxim whereby you can will it becomes a universal law; for the second, the principle of society declaring certain acts absolutely evil based on the harm they do to it; and for the third – well, shouldn’t you know? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, that’s absolute and doesn’t mention God.

Now, how about you prove to me that I am not, in fact, a moral absolutist? You are the one making the claim against me, so prove it!

Whether the Nazis started the fire or not is immaterial: they used it for political gain. So too did the current administration use the events of September 11 for political gain.

Ellison said “I’m not saying [Sept. 11] was a plan, or anything like that because, you know, that’s how they put you in the nut-ball box – dismiss you.” What an interesting statement. He didn’t say “I’m not saying it was a U.S. plan because that would be ludicrous.” Instead, he lets it stand as a viable theory which he won’t affirm because to do so would give his detractors an opportunity to dismiss him.

Well, letting it stand as a viable theory is itself just cause for dismissing Ellison.

And it’s no accident that he chooses a Nazi act to compare this administration to. The Communist record is a hundred times worse than that of national socialism, but he can’t seem to find a comparison there. No, when smearing a conservative (someone who opposes socialism, whether it is international socialism or national socialism), the choice is always to show that he is like Hitler.

Ellison is unworthy of respect.

All of them reference the Stars story so why not link the original source?

If ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC, UPI, …won’t pick up stories because it upsets their sensabilities are we to assume the story is not worthy of discussion?

What I find more interesting is people who shoot the messenger and dismiss the messege.
