Interesting comments! I am reading John Steinbeck’s “Live with Charley” and he wrote: “Having too many THINGS, people spend their hours and money on the couch searching for a soul. A strange species we are. We can stand anything God and Nature throw at us save only plenty. If you wanted to destroy a nation, I would give it too much, and I would have it on its knees, miserable, greed and sick.”I am tired of the ignorance and materialism of those who have forgotten the truth.
What I see in the vast majority of people in my country is a pre-occupation with worldly things, with good food, with sexual activities, appearances, wealth, idle and irrelevant concerns such as sport, gossip or reality TV which absorb their entire being. They drag themselves downwards into a banality a degraded and voluntary intellectual stupidity which i find repulsive. Too many people live in a pit of degradation of spirit and soul feeding on the empty promises of the world having become animals, having forgotten their own Humanity.
This materialistic pre-occupation, this descent in a banal degradation and animalism is the current state of affairs amongst much of the west. Our society on the whole fails to see its true condition, it fails to see that it lies prone and impotent in a pit of its own filth, that it like a dull animal lives solely for the fodder given by the farmers hand ignorant that it is destined for hte slaughter. Ignorance is ascendant for the people of the west, the majority in their pride, their greed and their decadence have forsaken the calling of their humanity, the search for The Truth.
They fail to grasp, or acknowledge the truth that resides in their midst, having become enslaved to the world. Thue we see that in rejecting the Truth which in its entirety exists only within the Catholic Church, the people of the west are now reaping the rewards of their labours. Their own annihilation.
What makes this even more tragic is that their own destruction is voluntarily commited at their hand.
I would add to this, as you do, that if people find the truth, (the Catholic Church) and truly obey its teachings, people would become strong and healthy and good.
