Westboro to picket Basilica in Atlanta

Exactly. This group was here in small town Iowa to protest at a local Catholic funeral for a horrible murder suicide funeral years ago and the Press actually told them ahead of time don’t bother coming here you won’t get one word of Press. They did not.

Apparently they were very upset by that.

Did they state the reason for the protest and why at this time? They haven’t targeted Catholic Churches before.

Westboro has no police, no courts, no power to regulate or tax. While annoying and outrageous as their message is, they can safely be ignored. They only affect your behavior if you let them. The Chuch (the Catholic Church) and our priests are certainly able to defend against guilt-by-association attacks (I assume the molestation scandals are the issue) from Westboro.

I can easily imagine the day when traditional moral teachings on homosexuality will be hate speech, criminalized. If you stand up then you could end up sitting in jail next to one if these Westboro guys and hear him say “told you so!” Imagine how annoying that will be.
 
Praise God! If they are picketing us it means there are no military funerals for them to picket and thus no grieving families.
The parishoners at the Basilica should follow the example of the patriot guard. Surround the Church with flags and install a PA system that broadcasts the Mass to drown out their noise.

I’ve haven’t heard of them targeting a Catholic Church before without a funeral. I know that at my son’s school and Church, there was going to be a military funeral and they threaten to come and protest. A bunch of vets came to line the streets to block them and they ended up never coming (this is a Catholic School and Church). Sometimes I think they make a lot of noise but don’t always follow through on the threats.

Sundays, they like to travel around and picket different Catholic churches. I have friends and family in KS, not far from Topeka, and they went and picketed outside the Latin Mass one day. My brother and his friends looked into what they could do, and found that as long as they were on public land (and not the permitted space for the WBC), they could carry sheets stretched out on sticks (like banners) to block the messages of hate.

I didn’t realize that, sorry that is going on.
 
I called the Basilica and gave them a heads up. Along with the Atlanta Police department… They said there is some big thing in Atlanta going on that week so police security will be beefed up and they will not tolerate this.

There is a difference, they are doing this in front of little Children. I don’t know about you but I don’ t want my Children to read signs after mass that say “GOD HATE FAGS” and ALL PREIST ARE PEDOPHILES",

They’re actually lawyers (every adult in the family), they make their living picketing and suing municipalities for violating their civil rights in the event the city they visit hampers them in any way.

I talked to Father Mario’s Secretary. She called me this morning. She thanked me. They said they will warn the Families. Westboro has gotten violent before.

Picketing is one thing, telling little Catholic Children they are going to get raped by a priest is TOO FAR.

I don’t understand. They are Calvinist. They believe in “Pre-Destination”. Why even bother if you don’t believe you can “accept” Gods grace. 🤷

Correction, 11 of the 13 adult Phelps are lawyers, I had thought they all were.

What is wrong with them is that they are being led by a demonic force to do evil to the Bride of Christ.

These evil people threatened to picket my friend’s parish during the funeral mass of a young soldier. I contacted Patriot Riders. Oddly enough, the Evil Ones found out the Patriot Riders were on the way and decided not to picket.

It is a small group of demonic, hateful people. We need to pray for them, that satan release his terrible grip on these people and the young children they have ensnared.
