Wha is the explaination of Genesis 1:1?

Genesis 1:1 which says " In the beginning God created Heavens and Earth"

Heavens is a plural word in NIV, is it so in all the Holy Bibles? and it clearly says God created. Does it mean everything was perfect when the heavens and earth was created?

I did read somewhere, I dont recollect exactly, that everything God created in the 1:1 was perfect and all was going as per the plan, but then fall of the satan took place here, and than everything was disrupted and than comes the second part of the creation, the six days creation.

Can someone give me the explaination pliz?

When it refers to heavens, it is talking about the universe. As in “they went out at night and stared into the heavens and contemplated the mysteries of the universe”. Heavens here doesn’t mean The Heaven, but the stars in the sky. So Gen 1:1 would be a general statement, and then the following 6 days would be going into detail. Like “she baked the cookies…she took the dough, and took the chocolate, and mixed them together.”

The Fall of Satan would be before the universe, “heavens and earth”, were created.

This from my commentary on Genesis

1:1 In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth.

IN the beginning means in the beginning of time. Before God began to create the universe there was only eternity where time did not exist, but when He began creating then that is the beginning of the existence of time.

God- that is to say the Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

made- God made the universe out of nothing. Unlike a builder who uses materials to make something, God created everything from nothing.

the heaven- this is probably meant as the starry heaven of outer space while the sky (firmament) is the heavens mentioned in day two (v. 1:8). Some of the Early Church Fathers believed it was the celestial Heaven.

earth- this refers to the land (Greek γῆν).
