Hey everyone I hope you all are having a blessed day. Just like the title say what’s your favorite Catholic Movie? Mine is “The song of Bernadette“.

I love Of Gods and Men. But there’s so many great Catholic movies like The Song of Bernadette, which you mentioned. I also have a place in my heart for the old Bing Crosby movies.

Here’s the trailer for Of Gods and Men:

Either The Nun’s Story or The Shoes of the Fisherman…
I’ve just bought Silence though, so perhaps that might change soon?

The Passion of the Christ! It reached deep inside and moved me. It is much more than a movie, in my opinion, it is a work of faith.

“The Quiet Man” with John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara is a great marginally Catholic film.

I like several of the ones above I’ve seen. I’ll add Romero to the list.

Into Great Silence is another of my favorites.

I liked Calvary, and it’s a decent counterpoint to a lot of the bad news regarding the clergy lately.

I Confess. I think it was probably the first Catholic movie I ever saw, and it caused a deep impression. Hitchcock was educated at a Jesuit high school, which must have made a difference.

For best Catholic movie, though, I agree with others who have nominated A Man for All Seasons.

Some suggestions I’ve never seen before but of those mentioned, A Man for All Seasons, Romero, and The Mission are fantastic.

How about Millions? I just bought the book for my daughter. I really enjoyed the film when I saw it years ago.

Also, this is my first ever post I think, or maybe second. Thanks to everyone who keeps this going.

God bless.

Many of my favourites have already been listed. The Passion and Into Great Silence are both incredible works of art. Our family also enjoys Jesus of Nazareth very much. We generally watch it every Lent.

Did anyone see St Paul several years ago? I meant to see it in the theatre but missed the chance.

Peter Ustinov as Nero gets my vote as the most unforgettable villain in the history of Hollywood.

Does The Blues Brothers count? I recall reading here at CAF that it was highly praised by senior Vatican officials.

Vatican newspaper calls "Blues Brothers" a "Catholic classic" Catholic News
Sigh. TAORMINA, Sicily — When Jake and Elwood Blues, the protagonists in John Landis’ cult classic “The Blues Brothers,” claimed they were on a mission from God, the Catholic Church apparently took them at their word. On the 30th anniversary of the film’s release, “L’Osservatore Romano,” the Vatican’s official newspaper, called the film a “Catholic classic” and said it should be recommended viewing for Catholics everywhere. The film is based on a skit from “Saturday Night Live.” In the s…

My current favorite is 'God’s Mighty Servant’about Sr. Pascalina Lehnert.

My all-time favorite is Song of Bernadette. At Christmas, “Sound of Music” is a must for me.
