“The Cardinal” I don’t know when it was released but it looks relatively old. Maybe from the 60’s. I found it at a used DVD store and decided to buy it not knowing if it was good. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very entertaining.

I liked ‘The Way’ with Martin Sheen from 2010. While not as religious as some movies, the main characters are Catholic and it unfolds in Spain on their pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. A story about a fallen away Catholic father’s love for his estranged son and his grief at his son’s death, and his determination to finish the pilgrimage that his son started in order to honor his son’s memory. His faith gets rekindled somewhere along the way. I highly recommend it.

I haven’t watched too many, just The Passion and Paul. I loved them both, though.

Some of the fore mentioned plus

Keys of the Kingdom
Demetrius and the Gladiators

Hands down … The Passion of the Christ. I can’t wait to see the sequel!

The book is even better (quite long). Author is Henry Morton Robinson.

Second the mention of ‘I Confess’
Also, ‘The Scarlet and the Black’

I prefer Son of God to Passion of the Christ, although both are hard to watch due to the graphic violence. Admittedly, the Jesus portrayed in Son of God is a Hollywood ideal (light brown hair, blue eyes, and dazzling teeth), but he comes across as very charismatic.

Yes, Rudy!! My whole family loves that movie!

Oldies:

Come to the Stable
Lilies of the Field

I’ve seen quite a few over the years whether I knew at that time they were Catholic or not. My favorite seems to be Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima (1952). My heart just speaks to me so much when the children see the vision and the power of saying the Rosary. I’m still a babe in the faith when it comes to Catholicism but seeing that film always make my faith grow and gets my focus on God completely and His Mother.

I also like the ‘Battle of Vienna’, also released under the title ‘The day of the siege’.

I love Passion of the Christ but it’s so brutal and hurts, I can only watch it during certain times.

“The Trouble with Angels” is perhaps my favorite. Well worth watching.
