Guess I just had to tell someone. There was a wedding today. Two of my highschool classmates and the groom also studied law with me afterward.

How many could-have-beens have you met in a single-event? I think it was five. It was such a spooky experience to meet one of them. With people you know that well from old times, you don’t even have to talk to communicate and then you know what. You haven’t seen each other for four years and you still assume the same pace and look around to see if the other is following. Even if nothing is theoretically there. We stuck together like that throughout the mass and a bit after until came the friend (guy, but friend only, as she explained when he was away) who was picking her up. Spooky.

And then I noticed that girl I used to see every week in the end of law first year, following a rather daring action on my part. And then I recalled a brief episode with another girl I had told to take a rest from guys even though I was interested because that was what she needed at the time. She’s getting married next week. And then another one, a classmate I briefly got closer with at university before she got back together with an old flame (married by now).

Five, isn’t it? Well, the church was on a plaza near my previous work, where I also met, at some point, someone with whom things didn’t click, and then on the way back, I had to pass a park where I… yeah, went with another could-have-been of many years in the final year of highschool. After a while I phoned my best friend and who was he with? A lady cousin of his. I didn’t even ask if it was the one I mistook for brushing me off when she was interested when I was 17 (she’s getting married this or next month, by the way). There was no point. May I say spooky?

Seriously. That’s quite a lot for a single day. The wedding was at 4, it’s 9 already and I’m still pecking away at the keyboard in cufflinks. What a day. Ever had anything similar happen to you?

Well, I was once at an AA meeting where there were 4 ex-boyfriends from before my sobriety. And theirs. Could I pick them or what?

Ruthie, now married to Mr. Right for 11 years!

Whew. Actually that has never happened to me, but it was interesting reading about your experience!

OMG Ruthie…:rotfl:

I think the weirdest thing that ever happened to me was going to a new job and having my first and only boyfriend from high school walk in…and within about a day I was saying, “THANK YOU, GOD” that all my ‘dreams’ at the time had not come true…
