“When I went to collect the results of his test, I got the shock of my life. My father has been diagnosed with liver cancer and the doctors have given him just a few months (six to eight months max0 before he succumbs to cancer. I am the only one who knows about his condition.”

Does the question poser in the article live in the US? Because, unless the father gave written permission to the doctor to release information directly to the son, because of our country’s HIPPA laws, there’s no way he would be given those documents, or know before his father of his diagnosis. Seems strange to me.
 
Actually, this was published in an English-language newspaper in Pakistan.
