I haven’t developed celiac yet, but I will most likely. Everyone in my family over about the age of 50 seems to develop it without fail. I am also incredibly intolerant of alcohol.
I cannot drink wine at all, even mustum caused me to have a fairly strong reaction only about 15-20minutes after consuming. If I develop celiac later in life, what options do I have when it comes to communion? None of my relatives can even consume a low-gluten host without becoming really ill, they all just take the wine instead…but that will not be an option for me.
