What about Eckhart Tolle: "A New World"?

I have friends telling me that the Catholic Church is very much against this book and want to know why.

Opera I guess has promoted it to the 9’s and my Catholic friends are reading it as well.

What’s the issue?

Hi,

That Oprah promotes it should be a tip off that it is most likely a superficial pop fad. Eckhart Tolle is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. He dabbles. No self help book will give you more peace than does the Gospel. What such books avoid (and this one in particular) is the cross. This Holy Week (and every week), we need to remember that to be His disciple, we must deny ourselves and take it up. ONLY then will we ever know peace.
