Does ex opere operato apply to Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion? If so, does that mean they are operating in persona Chisti just like the priest?

Hi,

“Ex opere operato” means that the validity comes from the sacrament and not the spiritual disposition of the minister. This pertains only to those who have received Holy Orders. Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion only distribute the Eucharist; they don’t consecrate it. So it does not pertain to them.
