A few years ago, a “theme” for each Sunday mass was announced just prior to the beginning of the liturgy. The practice was halted at our parish a few years back, but still is done in some other area churches. Someone wondered why the practice was discontinued in our RCIA class this evening. My guess is that it was decided that the practice was not proper, or was considered unduly distracting. Is this something that is decided on a local level, or has the Church established any rules about “theme” announcements? Thanks.
