Please give me advice about attendance at Christmas Mass. I will be staying with my son’s family from Dec. 24, 11AM, until Jan 8th. They attend a protestant church near Salt Lake City. They live in Farmington and I have looked online for Catholic churches nearby. I’m not sure if my son’s wife or my son will take me to my church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. They will take me to their church on Sunday morning. Will I be forgiven if I’m unable to attend Christmas Mass? Thank you for your help, Claudia

Hi,

Don’t wimp out. INSIST that someone take you to Mass. There is no reason why they cannot, out of respect at least, take you to Mass. The celebration of the Lords Passion and Resurrection are worth making a fuss about. They need to know how much receiving the body and blood of the Lord means to you.

Fr. Vincent Serpa, O.P.
