I suspect it doesn’t apply very well in the Catholic world. At least in my RCIA class we were taught about a physical resurrection, the virgin birth, etc. And my priests declare these things strongly. Where did these beliefs come from – they were handed down and preserved by the Catholic Church! At least the Catholic Church believes in the divinity of Jesus unlike the Mormons who only claim that Jesus is an exalted man who progressed to become a God. In the Catholic world Jesus is God – the same yesterday, today and forever. The Mormon denial of Christ’s unique divinity is one of its greatest heresies, but the Catholic Church still teaches it and will teach it forever, just like it did yesterday and is doing today.
This reminds me of a passage that I heard on EWTN yesterday:
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
~Heb13:8

hi big bill im ticked every time there is n opportunity for me to express my opinions and facts especially about the mormon faith the time is past.Well hopefully u get to read this here is what i have seen and read. First of God said he is unchanging and everlasting the one and only God there are no other Gods beside him. These are key components to Christianity. Not only that but the bible is all you need, God says in scripture that if you want truth search scripture and you will find it, and this is where moromns have it alittle backwards. When they give you the book of mormon they ask you to read and pray about it and the truth will be shed on to you. They believe that b/c you ask with a sincere heart God will answer you. haha God is much smarter thatn he knows what is in our hearts and he knows that deep down we are all corrupt in some fashion. That is why the bible is here as a mediator of faiths. All right i could go more indepth but i wont im going to finish what i started at the top sorry if this answer jumps all over the place. Now mormonism contradicts evrything i just typed in the above about God first they Beilive the trinity God, Jesus, Holy Spirit to be 3 unique and sepreate individulas, but alas scripture refers to all as being God. SO if that be the case then they contradict one of Gods first teachings in the old testament " I am the one and only true God there are no others before/ I am a jealous God you shall have none before me" Now if u confront them they will say oh “We only worship GOd the Father” once again haha if that be the case then why in scripture is Jesus so prevalint in saying you cant get to the father unless you go through me? Why at sacrament communion do we celebrate Jesus’s last meal? Simple they have to be one in the same in order for God not to contradict himslef. Secondly They belive that God the father was a man on another planet that rose to “Godhood” OH how does this coinecide with God saying he is everlasting and unchanging? it doesn’t plain and simple. And lastly God said there are no Gods beside me and for good reason in the ten commandments for give me i dont know which one but there is only ten im sure youll find it, but it says thy shall not make a graven image of thy self like anything in the heavens ? meaning you cant be a god, but you canbe perfect dont get me wrong that is what the second coming of Christ is for see first when we die we are purified and made perfect spirit then God comes and reserect (sp) our bodies and makes our bodies perfect a perfect physicall and spiritual being just as we were in the begining. this is just a small slice of the numerous biblical wrongs of mormonism. Remeber the bible is your friend oh and in galation 1: 8-10 i think Paul specifically says anyone whom proclaims a different gospel than Even an ANGEL (MORONI) may he be accursed. Know scripture first before you make any decions because they will decieve they are wolves in sheeps clothes

I didn’t read all seven pages, but I know there was a question in the beginning as to what is wrong with Mormons believing you can ascend to godhood. You only need one verse:

Isaiah 42:8 I am Jehovah, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another

The end 👍

I’m an ex-Mormon. What is it that appeals to you about it?

I left Mormonism and was born again in an AoG church. Then I became Catholic. I truly believe that Mormonism is a cult. They have distorted the nature of God Himself.
Just want to get on record here as a Mormon true blue dyed in the wool. I am an ex-catholic and been a member 30 years and would be glad to answer any sincere questions.

Well, folks:

I know the Mormons believe humans can attain divinity. I don’t have much of a problem with it. In fact, it seems reasonable to me. Once again: “You must become perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Those are the words of Jesus. How can one become perfect as the Father is perfect without becoming divine? I’m not sure I can see any other way of fulfilling that command.

I’m intrigued by the fact that you all have such strong opinions against the Latter-Day Saints, but I would like to know why. Explain to me in detail, especially those of you who have been in the Mormon Church, or have family who are.

It seems to me, also, that for God’s creation to become divine in itself only exalts and glorifies God all the more. No?
I’ve looked up some scriptures that go along with Bill’s Thinking
