What about no new prophets in the face of Fatima?

I was speaking to a Greek orthodox friend about Fatima and they said we should not believe in Fatima because there can’t be any new prophets after the New testament. If Mary was prophesying about future events, therefore, she’s acting as a new prophet. I wasn’t sure how to answer

Hi,

What happened at Fatima was only a private revelation, meant for the children. They were to keep secret what our Lady had said about the future, until it all had come to pass—and they did! What they were able to say publicly at the time was to urge people to prayer and penance, which was certainly no new revelation.

Private revelations can still happen. But all Public Revelation ceased with the death of the last Apostle. See: catholic.com/tracts/private-revelation
