According to Wikipedia, “gospel” means a proclamation of good news. The New Testament, a collection of inspired writings contains four Gospels and other writings and letters. The four canonical gospels are accepted by the Catholic Church as sacred. There are other gospels that are written that are not accepted as being sacred writings by the Catholic Church as well.I still don’t understand. What is the Gospel? Please explain this in a way for someone who has never heard of Jesus.
Your original question was what is the “good news” that was referenced in the stories about what Jesus preached. Ironically, it has the same meaning as “gospel”. You can read the gospels yourself. Be careful that you choose a recent version that is accepted by the Roman Catholic Church, as these are the most carefully translated and explained in detail in the footnotes.
You are right to question what is the “good news”. Nowhere is it fully explained what exactly is the “good news”, so I offered my opinion and others have offered theirs.
