Let’s call CD the OP–blessed to be alive and able to ask questions…

Depends. Do you believe in the Divinity of Christ (and the Trinity) or just that he was a cool 1st century guy?
Now, of course, Jesus was a cool, first century guy. Just one that also happens to be God.

I don’t believe in the bible but I believe in Jesus and God, what am I called?
Thanks:)
Blessings MountainGoat,

THE COMPOSITE OF GOD’S GIFT OF FAITH:

a. BELIEF ……. (Unconditional BELIEF in what God says.)
b. HOPE ……… (Unconditional TRUST in God.)
c. CHARITY …. (Unconditional LOVE for God.

God’s will is that everyone saved.
So, the following message of God is for every member of the human race, including you MountainGoat.

a. BELIEF ……. (Unconditional BELIEF in what God says.)

John 5:24;
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes Him who sent me, HES EVERLASTING LIFE; he does NOT COME INTO JUDGMENT, but has past FROM DEATH to LIFE.” Emphasize added.

We still stand before the judgment seat and our works will be judged.
The judgment of our works recorded in 1 Cor.3:12-15.
Our salvation is not at stake in this judgment.

At our baptism we have passed from death to everlasting life as it is recorded in John 5:24 & Rom.11:29; For the gifts and the calling of God are IRREVOCABLE. (Emphasize added.)

Our salvation (Eph.2:8) and our eternal life are God’s free gifts (Rom.6:23b) given at our baptism.

Our salvation is completed at our baptism as God’s free and perfect gift, paid by Christ, we cannot add to it and we cannot improve on it.
If we die one second after our baptism we go instantly to Heaven.

God’s written word is recorded in the Bible.
To believe God it means: We unconditionally believe His Word the Bible, etc.

As you see above MountainGoat, as you don’t believe the Bible you don’t know the above wonderful message of God which is written to you as well.

b. HOPE ……… (Unconditional TRUST in God.)

Unconditional trust in God means: We unconditionally trust His Word described in the Bible etc.

c. CHARITY …. (Unconditional LOVE for God.

Unconditional LOVE for God means: We unconditionally love God and His Word described in the Bible, etc.

I tell you Mountain Goat.
May happen in the future: While you are reading the Bible and the tears coming from your eyes because of your joy, you will know:
You HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE; you will NOT COME INTO JUDGMENT, and you have passed FROM DEATH to EVERLASTING LIFE.

At present, because you have no faith in the Word of God the Bible:
You could have not passed from death to everlasting life.

In the light of your post. I have no choice: I have to call you an Atheist Mountain Goat who is on the way to Christianity.

I cannot call you a Christian until you have passed from death to everlasting life as it is described in John 5:24, etc.

We pass from death to everlasting life at that point when God baptizes us into the Body of Christ.
This is the starting point of Christian life.

I’m a relatively new Catholic. I have been converted from Evangelical Christianity.
So, I ask the members of the KAF to correct me if I have made some mistakes.

Thanks in advance.

Blessings

Are you for real?
If you “don’t believe in the Bible,” but the Bible is our only source of knowledge about Jesus, what do you believe about Him?
Hmmm, that sounds quite SS-ish!

Though I’m sure the OP is not basing his/her belief in Jesus/God on the Tradition of the Mass…

It depends on your background. Were you baptised (in any church) but have doubts about the scriptures? In which case, you could be called a Christian (nominally of whatever group you were baptised into). Are you considering becoming Catholic but have intellectual issues to resolve first? Maybe an inquirer. Do you believe in God the Father and in Jesus but not in the details laid down in scripture? Maybe a Messianic Jew. The most important thing however is that you believe in the one true God. You know have a responsibility to inform yourself in the faith and to worship God in some form or another.
