I have literally reached my limit of what I can handle. I cannot even begin to describe how helpless I feel…it seems as though things will never get better and that they will only continue to head downhill.
I have been virtually friendless since I was ten years old. This is no exaggeration. For some reason, I have always been the target, the one that everyone liked to stalk, pick on, etc. And mind you, things got physical and frightening for me and my parents. By the time I was sixteen, I did not want to live anymore and begged God to take me and let me be with Him.
Every year, my mother told me that “things will get better.” When I was in middle school, high school was supposed to be better, and when I was in high school, college was going to make an immense difference in my life. Well, I am a junior in college, and everything is basically the same. My weekends consist of reading, and finding activities to do on my own. I can count on one hand the number of times someone has asked me to hang out in my lifetime. Loneliness, my friends, is praying to God that summer will go by quickly so that school will return and take up your empty hours.
What is it that puts people off? What on earth have I always been doing wrong? Please do not take me as someone who mopes around all the time; I know I must seem like a negative person by what I post on these forums, but in everyday life, I try my best to act positive and friendly. I keep it all inside, and make a real effort to hide the pain. I am basically an outcast at school…oh, and even at the gym, to make life even better! Lately, there are these two girls who love to make me feel awful for no apparent reason. And to make matters worse, one of them looks like a horrible bully from my childhood, which brings back horrific memories.
I am sorry if it seems like I am constantly complaining on here, but I feel as if this is the only place where I can write my true feelings. Please pray for me…I do not know how much more I can handle. It’s eating away at me, and I have nowhere else to turn. Also, I’d very much appreciate advice. Could someone please tell me why, when there are 100 members at the gym, I am the one who is targeted? Why do some people have life-long, fantastic friendships, and others do not? Why me? Why not the girl next door?
Not that I’d wish these feelings on anyone else. I would not wish them on my worst enemy.
