What are Chaplet and Divine Office?

I heard there are prayers called a Chaplet and Divine Office.What exactly are they?How do you pray them?Are they like the rosary?

A chaplet is any prayer which is prayed while using a string of beads to keep track of the prayers. There are many different chaplets. The Rosary is one kind of chaplet. Some others use different sets of beads with different numbers of prayers. The word Chaplet can refer to the prayers or to the string of beads itself.

The one you have heard about is probably the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, given by Jesus to Saint Faustina in private revelations. You can find the Chaplet of Divine Mercy here: marian.org/divinemercy/chaplet.html . It is prayed using regular Rosary beads.

The Divine Office is the same thing as the Liturgy of the Hours or the Breviary. It is part of the official prayer of the Church. Priests and members of religious orders are required to pray it daily. The laity are encouraged but not obligated to pray it. It consists of seven “hours” (they don’t take an hour!), or times, of prayer daily, as mentioned in the Bible: “Seven times a day I praise You because Your edicts are just” (Psalm 119:164). The seven hours are called Office of Readings, Morning Prayer (Lauds), Mid-Morning Prayer, Midday Prayer, Mid-Afternoon Prayer, Evening Prayer (Vespers), and Night Prayer (Compline). The prayers are contained in special books (the Breviary) and include hymns, Psalms, other readings from Scripture, responses, and intercessions. The best way to learn how to pray the Divine Office is to find someone who already prays it regularly and ask them to teach you/allow you to pray with them.
