What are Marian apparitions for? If revelations ceased with Christ what are her personal revelations for?

If Marian apparitions are to bolster the belief in Christ and to help convert people to Christ’s truth then why does she only appear to an intermediary which then passes on her messages? Why can’t she appear to everyone and speak clearly to everyone present? How can she make any knew revelations about what is to happen or what Christ wants?

Well, why didn’t Christ appear to everyone instead of just Saint Paul, or even fully to all those who traveled with Paul?

We live in a throw away society today. we constantly want and seek new.

This attitude perhaps , pervades Faith. new signs, new direction . but we still have not fully resolved or understood what we are already given.

Was Our Lady of Akita the latest approved Apparition.

then Our Lady has been pretty active in Zeiton.

October 13 will be a wonderful day, prayerfully full of love and hope, with the 100th Anniversary of Fatima Miracle.

I can think of at least 2 reasons. All revelation comes through Jesus and Christ’s revelation to Paul was was a personal revelation to Paul regarding his new mission in life- irrelevant specifically to those traveling with him. The specifics of Paul’s personal revelation wouldn’t have been dependent on Christ revealing himself to them.Simply put, the revelation was not theirs to have.

what do you think I am saying

and what do you think wesrock

is saying

Private revelations did not cease. From the Catechism:

There will be no further Revelation

66 "The Christian economy, therefore, since it is the new and definitive Covenant, will never pass away; and no new public revelation is to be expected before the glorious manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ."28 Yet even if Revelation is already complete, it has not been made completely explicit; it remains for Christian faith gradually to grasp its full significance over the course of the centuries.

67 Throughout the ages, there have been so-called “private” revelations, some of which have been recognized by the authority of the Church. They do not belong, however, to the deposit of faith. It is not their role to improve or complete Christ’s definitive Revelation, but to help live more fully by it in a certain period of history. Guided by the Magisterium of the Church, the sensus fidelium knows how to discern and welcome in these revelations whatever constitutes an authentic call of Christ or his saints to the Church.

Christian faith cannot accept “revelations” that claim to surpass or correct the Revelation of which Christ is the fulfilment, as is the case in certain nonChristian religions and also in certain recent sects which base themselves on such “revelations”.:

Perhaps God doesn’t send the Virgin Mary to appear to everyone for the same reason Jesus didn’t appear to everyone after he rose from the dead and didn’t remain on earth so that everyone from then until the end of the world would have an opportunity to see him. Jesus said to Thomas, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.” (John 20:29) Walking by faith is more meritorious, comes with a greater reward, than walking by sight.

Perhaps more people aren’t allowed to see apparitions of the Virgin Mary in order that those who hear about her apparitions second-hand, who have not seen yet believe, may merit a more blessed reward in heaven and that those who would remain unrepentant even after seeing her apparitions will be spared a less tolerable judgment.

Jesus said the servant who knew his master’s will but failed to do it would receive a more severe beating than the servant who did not do his master’s will out of ignorance:
47 And that servant who knew his master’s will, but did not make ready or act according to his will, shall receive a severe beating. 48 But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more. (Luke 12:47-48)
Jesus said the unrepentant cities of Chorazin, Beth-saida, and Caperna-um, who witnessed his miracles firsthand, would receive a less tolerable judgment on the Day of Judgment than the unrepentant cities of Tyre and Sidon and Sodom who did not witness his miracles firsthand:
20 Then he began to upbraid the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. 21 “Woe to you, Chora′zin! woe to you, Beth-sa′ida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. 23 And you, Caper′na-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I tell you that it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.” (Matthew 11:20-24)

The context of every single detail of a valid apparition has incredible weight. It is a very special, holy, and powerful occurrence. It’s a gift, not a right, and should not be a pearls before swine event. Also, the personal interaction vs. public interaction stresses the importance of the free will and the intimate relationship between each individual and their Holy Mother.

You also asked what Marian apparitions are for…
Our God is living, Our God is with us. Mary was assumed into heaven, bodily, and it makes sense that she would have the ability to interact with children on earth through heaven.

OUr Lady doesn’t provide revelations.
She admonishes us to pray when the world has seemed to forget.

Yes, and usually the valid apparitions have been warnings of some dire event which will come as a result of our forgetfulness.

RIght, but she says nothing specific. No time or date…just a general warning to get our act together. Just like a good mother. 😉

Private/Personal Revelation means just that. Private/Personal and for the most part pertains only to those that received it for reasons only known to the Trinity and the entity presenting it to the Individual.

Making the person responsible for “Divine Mercy” a Doctor of the Church presents a serious problem as everything that she wrote could be Doctrinal in nature…

I believe wesrock is making a erred comparison between Jesus revelatory appearance to Paul and the Marian apparitions which though claiming to be for all the faithful conspicuously appear to only a few, even during an event attended by many. As for you I can only speculate as to what your saying since I’ve already let you know I’m not sure how it applies to my question. If however you wish to waste time in having me speculate on your statement so that you may then correct me so be it. I believe your saying that since society isn’t satisfied with the old it seeks the new and sees it in Marian apparitions which are themselves mistaken for new revelatory messages but which are in actuality actualizations of what has already been revealed?

And what then constitutes the difference between public and private revelation if a revelation given in private to an individual is then made public by the individual and concerns everyone?

Public revelation ended when those who witnessed God on earth died. Who God was visible to.The public witness. True?

The problem is that the apparition itself indicates that her appearances are for everyone to witness so that change might be effected. Christ never makes a miracle or appears as revelation for all to only a few present. Everyone in Christ’s presence in scripture is always witness and can testify to what they have witnessed themselves. If Christ ever appears to a few it is only because a few is all that is present or as in Paul’s case because his revelatory presence was for Paul personally and only concerned Paul. Those that are blessed because they have not seen and yet believe have not seen because they were not there to witness the events not because they were there during the events but didn’t see anything as described. An apparition appearing to only a few with a message for all even though many are present must be suspect. The very fact that all don’t witness the event, which is for all, even though they are present defeats the purpose of the apparition and its message. The apparition appears, says I have appeared so that the world may witness Christ’s truth and change before its too late, says this message is for all to hear, and then is only seen and heard by a few intermediaries is absurd in my estimation. In scripture the whole key to witnessing anything taking place is being present where and when it takes place not being present and yet not seeing anything which others claim took place.

The message says it’s for the world to changr not necessarily for all to hear. It’s for the Church so it can do what she says and implement change

And how do we know it is a valid apparition if an intermediary is needed to represent what has been witnessed? God came to save the sinner through acceptance of his revelations so says scripture. If anything the apparition should most readily be apparent to those who need it most…the as yet unconverted. He came in person for all to witness and it got him crucified.
How does this personal versus public interaction stress the importance of free will? She didn’t appear personally to everyone and her message was for everyone. Her very words say this. Mary being assumed into heaven bodily is absolutely improvable, not revealed by scripture and a Mythos built up over centuries after what would have been her normal life span. As such it cannot nor should be commented upon as infallible truth with which to explain relatively current events.

How do you define revelation? She has supposedly come down from heaven to deliver a message which speaks of what God’s will is and what he will cause to happen if certain reparations are not made concerning her immaculate heart etc. By definition these things are unverifiable revelations except through faith. New revelations concerning specifically new events taking place in the present.
