It depends on the presenters’ definition of “social justice”. This is a term which is being co-opted today by certain groups who purport to be promoting the Christian Gospel, but may in fact be a front for political activism.
It would be best to attend a meeting (or 2), gather the materials used, and compare them with Catholic Social teaching.
Also, find out who they are affiliated with (if not your Diocese).
I am involved in countering this kind of stealthy political activism, as it is rampant in my state (WI). Many Catholics are supporting these groups, though Archbishop Listecki just came out with a statement that parishes should not become members (not a quote). Our parish had been asked to join a group which was an affiliate of the Gamaliel Foundation (based in Chicago). My research led me to actively counter them (not Gamaliel specifically, but the smaller affiliate). We initially met with our priest, who was supportive of the membership. Then, after gathering some support, a group of us brought it to the attention of our Bishop, who disallowed any more involvement with this organization.
I encourage you to become familiar with authentic Catholic social teaching. One place to start might be your diocesan web site.
