What are some of the main reasons that people are attracted to the Protestant faith?

I guess than I will write it again.

So,first of all i’m a pentecostal teenager from Germany. Germany is a very secular countries. We have a lot different faiths here, but Catholicsm and Protestantism are the largest one.
I live in a predominatly catholic area, but the catholic church services are often very empty or full of elder people. My church, a pentecostal one, on the other hand has a huge majority of people under 40. Especially young people join our community. While catholic (and even Lutheran) communities begin to deciline ,ours begin to grow. Why? Well, I guess it’s because of our way we are. Our church services are usually more “fun” than from other faiths like Catholic or Lutheran ones. Though, I think that is not a reason to convert to it, but it is one of the main points I guess.
On the other hand I really do like that our community begins to grow.
Pentecostalism is in general the fastest growing faith in the world.

Nope. You must not have understood.
Okay, my apologies. Help me understand. For the sake of discussion, do you have an example of where – after prayer and contemplation – God told you the CC was wrong?

No problem. It’s not always easy for any of us to always understand what someone means. The internet is also different than face to face. I can only try. If you mean God told me and I know for certain I’m understanding correctly, of course not. If you mean based on my human finite understanding at any given time, then of course. There are a lot things I question, doubt, or don’t believe for certain the CC is right on. Otherwise I’d be a faithful practicing Catholic. 🤷

The protestant church says the same though and is in a lot cases more liberal than the Catholic church.
I don’t understand your point. Could you rephrase?
Not to offend, but what do you think personally about the protestant/pentecostal church?
Where they profess truths consonant with the kerygma, I give them a 👍

Where they have professed truths which have divorced themselves from the faith, given once for all to the Church, I say, “You are wrong.”

I admire their hospitality, their love of Jesus, their knowledge of Scripture, their zeal and some of their music. Catholics could use a lot of that which Protestant and Pentecostal churches have.

However, these churches stand in the tradition of Apollos–full of zeal for the Lord but in need of being taken aside by one’s elders to get some better catechesis. As Priscilla and Aquila took Apollos aside to show him more accurately, so must be done today with our Protestant/Pentecostal brethren.

That’s more helpful, thanks Sy.

So, getting back to the earlier comment, your understanding of God’s image might actually be your own man-made image, since you can never be certain of God’s image. Therefore, you must accept the fact that the CC could be right – and even though you question Her teachings – you could very well be wrong. And in those instances where you could be wrong, you rationalize your beliefs with the comfortable assertion that you are doing your best to understand God. You’d like to plead invincible ignorance, but I think you’re more than capable of knowing better…

Illustrates I believe just another reason why people are attracted to Protestantism. They are able to do some thinking for themselves and everything doesn’t have to be black and white. Not as much at least in the denominations I’m attracted to of “I’m right and you’re wrong”. Not everyone needs to be surrounded by people who believe they are so certain they know. That’s always been a turnoff to me I know in matters of faith. But that’s me.

Interesting.

So you believe that someone can think for themselves and propose that the Epistles of Paul are satanic.

Clearly, the author, Mr. Edgar Jones thinks that he can think for himself.

And that someone can think for themselves and propose that eating grass is a way to grow closer to God.

That pastor is really thinking for himself, eh?

And someone can think for themselves and propose that God hates homosexuals.

Nope.

I am quite sure that you permit yourself to say, “Those things are not consonant with the Truth” but for some reason, you object to Catholicism doing the same thing.

Why do you permit for yourself what you object to in the CC?

The difference is I say I believe. Or at worst I believe I know. But rarely if ever do I even go that far. Not I know. When the topic is matters of faith. And I don’t go around telling people I’m right and they are wrong all the time. I’m humble enough to accept I’m a fallible human being with a finite mind on faith and belief matters. But I don’t deny you the right to. Just isn’t my cup of tea.

LOL!

You wouldn’t tell the people eating grass that they shouldn’t be doing that because that is not what God demands of them?

And you wouldn’t tell the person who pickets at a US soldier’s funeral that God, in fact, loves homosexuals?

Really?
