I’ve been thinking a lot about morality lately. Not just sexual morality, but the absolutism vs. relativism conflict and morality as a whole. As I was doing this, I was thinking about these extenuating circumstances wherein an action, normally viewed as immoral, might be justified.
The examples of this that I came up with are the obvious ones (to me, anyway), such as killing in self defense or just wars. My question is, what are some other examples of these exceptions? My curiosity in this field has been sparked so I figured I’d ask.
I did have one situation in particular that I wanted to ask about, though. I’m sure this question has been asked before, but what is to be thought of stealing in a dire situation, such as to feed a starving family?
Please give any examples you can think of.
