What are some religious orders that combine contemplative and active lifestyles?

I second the recommendation of canons regular. The form of life particular to the canon regular was created with the active/contemplative balance from the beginning by St. Augustine. Try looking at the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius, the Norbertines (St. Michael’s in Silverado is by far one of the best), the Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem (new and very small, but wonderful men very much worth a visit) etc.
