What are some things you would like to see your priest do that he is not doing now?

What are some things you would like to see your priest do that he is not doing now? (Keep it nice.)

Inquiring minds want to know.
 
Not to sound like a party pooper, but I think this thread could lead to some uncharitable gossiping and priest bashing.
 
I agree with the mommy. i don’t see the point. Where i live there are 4 catholic churches to choose from. go to one you like. If there is only 1 pray and pray hard. the holy spirt listens real good.
 
My priest is awesome. He’s very reverent, pulls no punches in his homilies, and does what the Church says, even when it’s unpopular with parishioners.

I wish we could lose the Haugen-Haas, though. And I wish he’d tell the female altar servers that flip-flops are not appropriate attire.

This is my priest exactly! He’s absolutely wonderful! The only thing I would change is that I wish he was more personable. I know that he has a lot on his mind and is extremely busy, but I wish he was more approachable. Other than that he’s great.
 
Because my priest is left-handed, so when he puts a piece of the consecrated host into the chalice, he does it while making the sign of the cross with his left hand. He also distributes Holy Communion with his left hand. This has always bugged me.

And I also wish he wouldn’t walk around so much during his homily. It’s very distracting.
 
This thread is the perfect example of what I meant in my thread about changing the name of this forum to Complaints and Criticisms.

What is the point of this thread other than to elicit complaints and criticisms??? In the original post, there was no question posed regarding Liturgy or Sacraments.

How on earth could any man considering the priesthood be nurtured and encouraged by reading a thread like this??? Sheesh, this can’t be helping the priest shortage.

Mommyof4 has it right: this thread can only lead to gossiping and priest-bashing. It is a near occasion of sin.

Let us pray for our priests. Let us support them in their vocations. Let us be charitable in our words and actions toward all of our neighbors. And he said to him, ’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Mt22:36
 
The thread could lead to constructive criticism and honest outing of needs/desires in a parish or for pastoral leadership. Not that it necessarily will.

What would I like to see of some of the pastors I know? I’d like them to be more responsive to the needs of people beyond the average parish kitchen cabinets. Often, it is too easy for pastors to concern themselves with mere parochial concerns of the very involved parisioners. I believe that there is a greater need for outreach, personally encountering those who may only make it to Mass once a week or occasionally, getting out into the community and showing oneself as a listener, reconciler, a trusted witness in the neighborhood and community who is tuned into issues which affect people of the parish in ways beyond the parish walls. Priests need to be more practically evangelical and less just parish managers who say Mass.
 
we recently changed pastors, so we’re still getting to know this one. I wish he’d bring the bells at the consecration back. I miss them. I also wish there was more time for confession. But people don’t come, so I guess the priests figure “why waste the time?” I was trying to go yesterday, but I missed the 30 minute window of opportunity.
 
To those who fear a thread like this:

Gee… my pastor is so great and perfect … no one could ever complain about anything he does. Critics of this thread might even feel safe about talking about this man… except…

I have to say there is still one thing I wish he would do right now. I wish he would make some mistakes and be human like me.

(Hope I haven’t worsened the priest shortage)
 
Gosh my Pastor is such a wonderful caring man. He has been a great help to my family. May God Bless you all.
 
I would like to seem him do a better job of taking his days off and find some time for a vacation. Other than an occasional day here and there, he hasn’t had a vacation in 2 years and he seems to always be in the office on what’s supposed to be his day off.

Please pray for our priests and that those God is calling to the priesthood or religious life answer Him affirmatively, with full heart and trust in Him.
 
Our priests are all fantastic, I just wish they had more time and they were 30 years younger!!

I wish we had more confession times.

Now, do these wishes come true on their own or do we have to rub the magic lamp 1st? Most of us are generally left with an imperfect but hardworking and holy priest. Thanks be to God for all our priests. And pray for vocations.

Follow the Bishops directives or at least not openly defy them.
