What are the benefits of having Holy Water?

I think there are no real benefits other than psychological in having holy water.

Possibly.

But as an RN I can tell you there’s mountains of evidence proving that the placebo effect is real.

In addition to the above, one may obtain holy water from special places around the world. Our Lady, Lourdes and Saint Bernadette hold a very special place in my journey, so I obtained a small bottle of water from the grotto. .

The water from the spring in Lourdes is not holy water unless it has been blessed by a priest .

It can be used as a reminder of your baptism .

Probably. Holy Salt is used like Holy Water with a new home. Sprinkle some in each room and on each door and window, and harmony should ensue.

Get some in the interim but next year don’t forget to grab some Easter Water. That’s some powerful stuff!

I’ll toss in that in the Eastern Churches, EC and EO, on Theophany we take it a step further.

The blessing/consecration Theophany water actually includes an epiclesis. I’m not going to say that it’s not “just Holy Water”, because putting that adjective in front of Holy Water seems to diminish, but its something more. The entire congregations comes and drinks (from disposable cups, these days) and most bring some home.

Our priest told of us a local couple who had long been trying to conceive who did so rapidly after drinking it.

"Holy {that is BLESSED} Water is termed a “Sacramental” {something that holds the possibility of leading one to more frequent or more fervent use of the 7 Sacraments. As such it is a channel of POSSIBLE grace when used properly and reverently.

Because it is HOLY and Satan is not; it can assist one from possibly sinning.

Holy Water does seem to be effective against Satan and his demons. More than just a psychological effect for those using it, there are testimonies from both saints and exorcists which show that demons recoil from it.
I would think that would mean that it has a real power.
